The problem is that my Messenger sometimes chagnes my nickname to the few previous ones that I had, week or two ago. Not the avatar, not status, not the personal message, just the nickname.

Any suggestions?

It is very annoying, I sometimes write in my nickname for example [In school ] and remove it when I come back home. After few days it auto changes back to [In school ].

does it only change back when you're at home?

i think your cache is corrupt, close msn and delete these folders:

on windows XP:
%userprofile%\contacts
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts

on windows Vista:
%userprofile%\contacts
%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts

then sign-in again and hopefully it will be fixed

Perhaps using Windows Live Messenger 8.5 Final can solve your problem?

Messenger automatically changes my nickname no matter where I am. I just wrote this "In school" for example because when I set my status to "Away" I usually write where I am. So, it's quite confusing when my nickname on Sunday changes to "In school".

I've deleted those files and it was okay for some time, then again it went wrong, automatically changing my nickname.
Does this has anything with if I am very often for long periods signed into messenger? I think it shouldn't make any trouble...

try deleting the files again? also you may try updating to the latest wlm 8.5

Of course, I'll delete again those files but I want to know why is this happening? What am I doing wrong?
Last time I tried to update to 8.5 version there was some error, but I'll update it these days...

might be a bug in 8.1, seems those files get corrupted every now and then

Deleted again those files and upgraded to WLM 8.5.
Hope this will fix the bug, finally.
