Yeah, they are having server problems (i remember a few months ago when it was really bad)
Ok try this:
1. Sign into your account via windows live messenger.
2. Make shure your windows live messenger is working by "talking" to a contact.
3. Sign out of windows live messenger.
4. Exit windows live messenger.
5. Log-out of all accounts under that email.
6. Sign into messenger again and see if it appears
I do this and it works.
