Well I was running out of space on my harddrive, So decided to sort through my files and folders, uninstall unused programs and done a disk clean up.



Is 10GB alot to be cleared from a disk cleanup?

In short.....yes!!

Where is that amount of stuff coming from?

You notice all the things to be deleted have file sizes next to them....which ones have Gigabytes of stuff being deleted?  (aside from that 1.8GB of error reports )

Well. Im going to start doing disk cleanups more often!

Might I suggest that you start running CCleaner too

And turn off system error report creation (you don't seem to send them anyways, so why storing them)....

In Vista it's different

Start > Control Panel > Problem Reports and Solutions > Change Settings > Advanced Settings

But no, don't hurt me almighty CookieRevised!.

Also, thanks Chunk1993. You reminded me to clear my error reporting. I saved 9GB

It picks up way more than the disk cleanup does

When you "delete" files to Recycle Bin in Windows (this is the normal delete function), they are just moved from their original folder but are still saved on the disk. You must then clear them from the Recycle Bin to remove them and regain the space that was being used. You can also hold shift when deleting a file to bypass the Recycle Bin, but if you do this then you cannot recover them like you could if you did use the Recycle Bin.
