as soon as i get up to about 5 tabbed chats it lags bad to close or switch conversations. could it be because of transparency or just having so many windows in one window? lol

I would even say that it is a combination of both, depending on your computer specifications.

Some things that would help

RAM: (example 512MB)
OS: (example Windows XP)
Messenger Version: (example Windows Live Messenger 8.5)
Messenger Plus! Version: (example Messenger Plus! Live 4.50.310)

Yeah, sounds like a hardware issue

i dont think so:
OS: Windows XP SP2
RAM: 1.12 GB
Processor: Pentium 4   3.20 Ghz
Messenger Version: Windows Live Messenger 9 BETA
Messenger Plus! Version: Messenger Plus! Live 4.50

Could it be a compatibility issue between WLM 9.0 and MP!L 4.5?

puppet1991 are you an official Microsoft Windows Live Messenger Beta tester?

If not i recommend you uninstall WLM9.0 (as it really offers little in way of benefit over 8.5.. in fact i'd say its probably worse at this stage) and see if the problem persists.

i turned transparency off and it didnt make a difference
its not a compatability issue between WLM 9 & MP!L 4.5 because its been happening on all versions

It could just be that you have a lot of processes open on the computer which is causing Messenger to lag

I don't, and I'm using WLM9 beta.

My specs are also worse than yours - XP SP2 on an Athlon 3200+ with 1.0GB of RAM.

So it's likely that another program is causing interference or is simply hogging up your processor. Check taskman.
