O.P. Graphics Cards
I wanna get a new graphics card but im not sure which one. I also am not sure how to install it(where to put in the case) so i need a guide for that.
Anyone know of a good one that supports the latest DX10, ie with games like crysis. I havent really got a budget, but anything under £500 would be good

You might find this interesting.

But I'd recommend you to think about what you are going to use it for. If you're more of the type that like good quality, ATI is the right route, however, if you want good performance for high-end games (For instance, Crysis) then nVIDIA would be the right route.
I've used ATI for a rather long time, and I'm probably staying at this route, atleast for my use.

Well I'd be playing games such as Crysis, and any new games that come out, i will probably download. But ive always used nVIDIA so im probably gonna stick with them

RE: Graphics Cards
Crysis plays better on my bfg 7900 gt oc than most 8xxx series cards. I'd suggest either one of those or an 8800 series card.

Ew. 8800GT.
It's cheaper, newer, and better.

RE: Graphics Cards
no1 told you how to put it in yet:
power your computer off @ the back, remove the side, look @ where your screen is plugged in then unplug everything that was plugged into the same metal strip, undo any screws or clips then @ the base there's a small plastic clippy thing push it down then put your new one in its place..
nb: just make sure the one you get is the same interface as the one you have

Not applicable if he's using onboard graphics.

RE: Graphics Cards
Crysis really ain't worth the money from what I've seen... Sure, it has state-of-the-art graphics, but the other problem: crap AI. I bet most reviews from GameSpot, IGN, and such will probably say the same thing. Pretty much an average game rather than what it was cracked up to be. I was actually disappointed to... (X-Play, G4 show, gave it a 3 out of 5, so y'all know)
Anyway, in terms of graphic cards, I'm an ATI person, so I'd be suggesting ATI cards rather than nVidia. I personally think DX10 isn't worth it since.. well.. Vista ain't even worth having in the first place. I'm pretty sure ATI will have DX10 cards soon (if not now, I haven't looked around lately), but I think one of their HD cards should do fairly well.
Avatars © to me.
