Making and autorun menu for a cd - NOT .exe ?

O.P. Making and autorun menu for a cd - NOT .exe ?
what else can i use that would look good, that would open up when i inset a disk? i don't have visual basic so i can't produce a .exe to use an autorun.ini

any tips?

use a .exe that takes an argument to launch another file. I had this problem in the past when trying to launch a ppt. There's programs out there. let me see if i can find one.

Another alternative:
put start before the file you want to run. this will launch a command prompt for a moment before launching the file
code:
[autorun]
open=start file.txt


Here, this program should do the trick: http://www.naughter.com/shelexec.html

Argh, I had done this one on my gradution cd. I'll have to get home to check how I did it though.

Why not use a Flash file and and export it as a projector file (.exe)

clever idea but i dont really like the look of it, im gonna do it with a powerpoint with my work in it... its to take with me to a uni interview

If you want to autorun a Powerpoint presentation, use the "Package for CD" feature in Powerpoint. It will save the presentation, and a player for it, and autorun file for you. This way you're less likely to run into trouble with cross-system compatibility. Note that the first time you play a presentation on a computer, the player will show a license agreement before starting.
