O.P. [324] Custom nickname is ignored in auto-messages within the "information area"
Any custom nickname for a contact is ignored when a "Status changed" or "Nickname changed" message in the "information area" of the chat window is displayed. This is the area where the "user is typing" message is displayed.

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open a chat with a contact.
  2. Set a custom nick for him/her, using Contact List, rightclick the contact, "Add nickname".
  3. Tell him/her to change his/her status, and watch the info area of your chat window.

Hate to burst your bubble, but this is old. It has been this way since MP!L 4.00 and WLM 8.0.

Wasn't the feature to show the contact changes details in the info area, and at all, the whole Plus! support for the info area, added just in 4.50?

Added a new "Display event notifications in information area" feature. Enabled by default, this feature notifies you of your contact events in the chat window themselves, in the area where "user is typing" is generally displayed. This is mostly visible if you're using Messenger 8.5.

Isn't the report about the custom names? If so, then yes it is an old bug.

Not bug, we better call it as a limitation. Messenger Plus! Live cannot currently retrieve the custom nicknames specified by using WLM's custom nickname feature due to Messenger's API. So mynetx, the information area is not the only place you will see this problem. All Plus! windows can currently only display the real display names of contacts which are set by them.
