Hello Rick, and welcome to the forums!

To get started with scripting, the first thing you'll need is the Scripting Documentation that explains the available events and objects that are available to be used. Get started by creating 'Your First Script' as it is shown in the documentation.

Next thing that I did to learn, is to look at other existing scripts to see how they operate. Also, do some digging in the Scripting forum, as there is a wealth of information there as well.
