I'm not sure if this has come up before, and searching turned up nothing.

I think that Imap account checking would be just as useful as POP3 checking for people who use Imap email accounts, such as gmail.

Any possibility this could be implemented?

I like the idea.
Would allow gmail user more freedom, as we usually always have to open a new browser and go to gmail.com.

Also, since the email count is usually unreliable, this could make evrything perfect.
