Well the thread poster was talking about the conversations appearing...not so much signing in automatically...but I guess that would solve the problem

Well this is the reason that they'd appear automatically. Although it might be an issue with Windows Messenger as opposed to Windows Live Messenger, so if I were them, I'd go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components, then uncheck Windows Messenger (just because the stuff necessary to run other software will still be there, but it just won't cause any hassle), then go through all of the dialogues until it uninstalls.

Also, if you're away from the computer and want to stay online, then use the the 'Lock Messenger' function, which hides all of the messages and keeps you online. To use this, simply press ctrl + space, which will turn the messenger icon into a network icon. To open messenger back up, simply double click the network icon. Obviously you can put a password on this in the Plus! Preferences.
