I suggest a new right-click menu option for the contacts window.

When user right clicks a contact, there will be a new option, something like:
"Alert me next time this conact becomes online"

When next time that contact signs in, Messenger Plus may play a sound file, or open a new instant message window automatically. If target user becomes offline before we catch him/her the notification will be programmed again for a next time, and won't expire until we finally get him/her online.

I know this can be set up through Messenger Plus options, but adding it to right-click menu will keep things easier.

You don't have to go to Plus! options to set a particular notification for a contact. You can use that right click menu for that. Follow "Messenger Plus! Features > Event Notifications > Create new notification..." This will pop-up the event notification wizard window for you to select an event for that contact (The contact will be pre-selected in this case). You can progress there and complete the wizard like you want.

Yeah, I'm already setting up this notification by the way you explained above.

The feature I suggested is a shortcut to make this as simple as clicking a right-click menu item. If you were using this feature as frequently as I am doing, you could understand what a tedious work to go along all those dialog boxes to set up notification for a single contact.

Not a bad idea though.

But another way to keep track of your contact's activity would be using the "Display Contact on Desktop" feature.

That works pretty well too.
