I installed WLM 9 but whenever i try to sign in, it doesn't even try to sign in, it just gives me error message 80040154

how do i fix it?

This topic says they tried registering the dlls, so you can try the same.

Easy way:

Exit Messenger. Download this zip file, extract the .bat file inside it, then run it. Wait until its complete, then run Messenger. It's safe, I tested it.

Hard way:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
3. At the command prompt, type the following lines and press ENTER after
each line:

regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

4. Click OK when you receive the message that DllRegisterServer in FileName
succeeded.
5. Type exit to quit Command Prompt.

Just tried that, still doesn't work

also try registering msxml3.dll
start > run > regsvr32 msxml3.dll

If that doesn't work:
make sure the time and date on your computer are correct.
delete all the cache folders as listed in step 6 of this post

are you able to sign in as another user on this PC? are you able to sign in elsewhere?

I've tried installing msxml3, i'll try registering it later when i try installing WLM9 again, i used a system restore to go back to 8.5 for the moment

Just a thought guys, could it be because i used an offline installer instead of the official microsoft one?
