O.P. Can not see text when typing

I Have just downloaded and installed Messenger Plus Live. On Windows Live Messenger Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8064.206) On Windows XP Version5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600.

When I enter text in the type window i can not see it. I have tried changing fonts, but to no avail. On pressing enter the text is displayed correctly in the chat window.
