I'm running the latest WLM (vsn 2009, 14.0.8064.206) and the latest MP! (v4.81.0.358), and every day or two Messenger crashes with this error message:
"msnmsgr.exe - Application Error.
The instruction at "0x28068e9b" referenced memory at "0x00000104". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate or CANCEL to debug."

I've been assuming that it was a WLM problem, but today I decided to hit CANCEL to debug the problem. Of course, without the source code I couldn't get very far, but when I looked at the stack in my debugger, I noticed that the most recent instruction was from the MP dll. In fact it was the same instruction reference as in the error dialog. So perhaps it is a MP! bug after all. I've tried reinstalling everything numerous times, with no effect.

Google can't find anyone else reporting this error, which surprises me, as it happens so consistently on my machine (running XP). Does anyone have any clues for me?

Do you have any Messenger Plus! scripts installed? Disable those and see if it helps.

If that doesn't help, uninstall Plus! for a few days and see if that helps.

No scripts, although I do have a skin applied. But I'm pretty sure the problem pre-dated the skin. I'd rather not uninstall Plus! just yet, but I guess it may come to that. Any other ideas out there?

best bet is to uninstall plus (you can backup your preferences first...) to see if it is actually the problem so that we can try and help...

If you get the option, always click to 'Send Error Report' to Microsoft, as Patchou has access to these reports and it could help him identify an issue in Messenger Plus! Live
