I don't understand, logged in to my gmail earlier today, had over 200 spam emails. (normally theres like 10 at most)

The senders address of a lot of the spam is my email, but all with different names as the name of the person.

and so on... im not to bothered, the spam filter catches them all, but how/why is it from me?

The FROM header can easily be spoofed so that it looks like its coming from you, I think the reason behind doing it is so that its harder for your spam filter to identify it as junk, because it "looks " like its coming from you.

Any decent spam filter nowadays doesn't bother with FROM and TO headers much, as they are so easy to spoof. They all tend to go on the content.

They were all in the spam folder anyway... i just noticed them because of such a large number of spam emails that day!
