O.P. How to change contact's font in WLM2009?
I just upgraded to WLM2009. How can I change a contact's font type, color, etc in the contact list? (for example changing a certain contact display name to bold and red) I explored the menu options but can't find any setting related to this. Thanks

This can be achieved by adding a nickname to the contact containing the codes (Right click> Add a nickname or click on a contact then press F2).

Yes, but adding a nickname only allows adding a custom name to a given contact. I know that you can also add certain parameters like "" for bold, etc, as I did in WLM8, but I thought that WLM2009 included friendlier options to do this. What are the parameters to change colour and/or fonts in this way?

well considering formatting isn't even a WLM feature (it's a plus feature,) why would WLM add options for it :p

Too bad, I remember however seeing a WLM (can't recall version number) where you could add colors to a contact's nickname

For the colors, you use the same as a simple message...

Example:  [c=4]Little text[/c]     ==returns==>    Little text

You can see other colors numbers at the "Format Panel" in any conversation window..... Also, on the same panel, on the down corner right os this panel, clicking on the bigger retamgle, will open another window with more colors that you can choose

;)

I followed your instructions to add the red color to "Joe" in my contact list. So I right click on "Joe", select "Edit nickname", and then modified "Joe" to "[c=4]Joe[/c]". After doing that Joe is not turned into red, instead the following is displayed in the contact list for Joe: "[c=4]Joe[/c]" (all in black).
Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

I know is crazy, but I've tested with the same code as you.... When I pressed the "enter" do confirm the nick, the codes appeared instead of the new nick

But when I close the contact list (making it go to tray) and re-opened it, the nick was with colors....

So add the nickname, close contact list and re-open it.... (without singing off of you WLM)...
;)

Yes, you're right, I closed the contact list, reopened it and the nickname refreshed with new colors.:)
How about bold red? it would be:
[b ][c=4]Joe[/c]? Problem is that for longer names the nickname has a limit on the number of characters and one falls short of entering all the code. Any ideas?
