Correct me if I am wrong but I thought there was no way of getting the data from the PS3 network like you can with the XBox? You could put the 2 computers on a switch and protocol sniff but thats not the easiest way... and I don't think there is an easy way to do it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't you need a hub to do that?
it could be possible if it uploaded your status to a server and the script got the info from there (kind of like what some users here, myself included have to show their MSN info+status in their sigs)
well, I don't know, I don't happen to own a PS3, I was thinking if it were possible to find out on Sony's website like how you can see your friends' Xbox Live profiles on Xbox.com
I don't think Sony has the same infrastructure inplace that Microsoft does. They certainly can't offer games for download. Sony's games are on Blue-Ray that would take a ridiculous amount of time to download. Anyways we are getting off topic here. I don't think it is possible. If someone with a PS3 can confirm this then great .
Anyone on the PSN can sign into that link and see the current status of their friends, along with what game they're currently playing and any status message.
I don't know about getting the information out of that website and into a script.....but in theory it could be possible?
