O.P. an old script
hi all,

does anyone remember an old script you could download from the scripts site, where it added your messenger contacts into the "Send To" menu when you right-click files?

im sure it was called "SendTo Manager".

i always used it, one of the best scripts i had found, but i cant find it anywhere anymore. i usually download the script files first, but i musnt have with that one.

if anyone remembers this, and happens to have the script file, it would be much appreciated if they could let me know :)

thanks!

Mitch.

The only thing with it if you are running Vista you cannot have cascading menus in the Send To menu therefore you can only use the contact select.

I want to look at changing the script abit and add a regular context to the menu and not just use the "Send To" feature of the O/S. This would allow for better integration.

RE: an old script
The script you'll find in [Release] SendTo v2.2 [Final] is not the latest version.
The latest version is 2.4 2.4.1 which has some internal stuff changed (together with two new options).

And the 2.3 version was once bundled with Messenger Plus! Live btw.

Anyways, I've updated the 2.4 version a bit so it contains the new version tags and will request a script database update (since it apparently was removed from the database).

In the meantime you can download version 2.4.0 from the attachment.
In the meantime you can download version 2.4.1 from this post.
(will be removed again as soon as the script is approved and put in the Scripts Database - or once Matty has updated the attachment in the first post in that thread)

ahum... :D

Matty made the first versions of this script, but I have sort of taken it over since version 1.8 ;)

ok thanks, but i went to install it and avira picked up a virus in the 2.4 release....

"Virus or unwanted program 'TR/Crypt.CFI.Gen [trojan]'
detected in file 'C:\PROGRA~1\MESSEN~2\Scripts\SendTo\_sendfile.exe."

i'll stick with 2.2 lol but thanks anyway!

RE: an old script
Get a decent virus scanner then :p...

If you read that thread you will notice that there is nothing wrong with that exe, as such a thing has been reported before. It is simply your virus scanner which gives you a false positive probably because that exe is compressed, that's all. The script (and all its files) is 200% safe.

PS: the code in the exe is btw the exact same which came with version 2.3 and that version was bundled with Messenger Plus!. This just to say that there is absolutly nothing wrong with it (otherwise it would never have won a prize and been bundled with Plus!).

So there is also no difference between the exe in 2.2 and 2.3 (and thus 2.4.0) except for the version number and the internal parameter 'magic' number (also see the script file). They all are compressed in the same manner also.

If 2.4.0 is "unsafe" then 2.2 is just as "unsafe" (because the exe's are the same). It makes no sense that your virus scanner would give a notice about 2.4.0, but not about 2.2.

;)
