I get a side by side error when I try to run the newest version of WLM.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

I already have that installed.

Try removing anything which says Windows Visual C++ in Add/Remove Programs (there's most likely a few), restart your computer, then install the one above.

That is the only known fix, so try different things to make it work.

I've tried all of that, and still nothing.

I apologize for the long delay, I just reverted back to 8.5, and since support for 8.5 just recently stopped, I tried reinstalling the new version, but I still get the side by side error.

That post, and thus package link is old.

If you want to install the "Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)", you should instead install the updated SP1:
Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) - Service Pack 1

Second, that package is for 32-bit systems, not 64-bit systems.
The 64-bit system version can be downloaded here:

Please remove the installed package, it is not for 64-bit systems, and it is a buggy version. Instead use the links I gave above.

Also remember to re-download and re-install the latest version of Windows Live Messenger, this is very important.

Follow the next steps in case you end up in the help pages (http://help.live.com) after using the support link:

1. Pick your Windows Live Messenger version.
   
2. Click on one of the topics in the left pane.

5. Fill everything in with as much details as possible in the form.

Those files don't appear to be working.

While I am at it, this is the exact error, this might help:
