Following on from my last thread, (I ended up getting Netgear DGN2000 and Netgear WN111), I'm having some wireless troubles.

My router is working fine for all ethernet connections and my phone can connect to it with full  signal using WiFi. However when I use the USB adapter to try and connect to the router, all sorts of problems arise.

Firstly, I can only get 2 bars of signal, which is weird because the other room is only like 10 metres away and theres not like a giant metal sheet into between the two or anything.

Secondly, the computer has trouble "Aquiring Network Address", even though my phone can do it fine.

What do you think I could do?

If you have wireless N hardware it uses the 5Ghz/2.4Ghz frequency.

Other devices that use this frequency include microwaves and wireless phones. If you use the 5 GHz frequency or 2.4Ghz. Some wireless phones also use this frequency. These devices can cause interference between your computer and the network.

I suggest changing the channel on your router Or setting it to automatically choose the best channel.

i think i understood you did this already but does the phone work where the usb thingo doesn't? are you sure it isn't the adapter's fault? what brand is it?

I would have thought it was preferable to assign a static IP which should fix the "Aquiring Network Address" anyway...

As for the signal, are you sure the adapter is working well? It may be something as simple as the wrong channel or a couple of the obscure settings inside device manager

Check for MAC address filters on your router settings.

have you tired moving the computer with the wireless card closer to see if it will connect properly?

Well I tried a couple of things:

1. I tried connecting to the router while in the same room as the router with a phone and a laptop. Signal strength was perfect and they both connected no issues.

2. While moving into the other room, I lose about 40-50% signal but both the laptop and the phone are still able to connect fine. And the speed of the connection is almost the same as the speed of my wired connections so no troubles there.

However I havent tried connecting to the net in the EXACT location of the computer (I tried in the same room, but a different corner).

I've tried connecting with the Push'N'Connect button and just the normal way of using the security key, both have the same outcome so it probably has nothing to do with them.

Even with all of this I still get the "Limited or No Connectivity" issue.
