MPL4.84 (or any previous version) does not work with WLM8.5 on XP SP3 running in 2000 compatibility mode.. once u disable 2000 compatibility mode, the plus menu loads fine.. but obviously there is no point in doing that since u can't sign in as it'll force you to update WLM

RE: Problem with the download update?
This is intended behaviour. Old versions of Messenger should not be used for security reasons. If you upgrade Messenger, you'll find that Messenger Plus! Live works properly without any "work-arounds" needed
That is nothing to do with the issue behind described here though
I'm glad to report that the problem introduced with the latest release has been fixed. You can now download Messenger Plus! 4.84.384 from the public web site. Thanks for sending me reports

Out of interest, what was the cause of it?

The move to Visual Studio 2010 caused Messenger Plus! to stop working for a minority of users. The resource DLL of Messenger Plus! has been modified to solve this issue.
EDIT: The file auto-update links to (/update/MsgPlusLive-484-TB.exe and /update/MsgPlusLive-484-PN.exe) still seems to be the old build though? Downloading from the site works.
