It'd be great if we could click a 'Thanks!' button on posts and the people which said thanks was displayed below (e.g. AVForums).

I was just reading one of Cookie's posts and would of loved to discreetly thanked him for it, which brought me to this suggestion.

It's a long shot - I realise with WDZ wanting to retire from msghelp there's probably nobody able to developer this big-ish feature even if it was wanted by many, but nevertheless I thought I'd voice my opinion anyway.

i know what you mean ( Ubuntu Forum has it ) but i dont think its worth it anyway, half of the people dont bother to click it, they automatically say Thanks when a problem is solved anyway

plus all you have to do is update your rep post you gave him, which is the same thing?

i dont think DZ has the interest anymore in this forum to bother coding anything else in it

It's not a bad idea, but it would just end up getting abused (like the rep system)....and I don't think we need to have two often pointless indicators of who's helpful and who isn't

it does get abused an often.

There are a few pre-made mods on mybb.net like this but I think they're only for 1.4

I thought this was exactly the function of reputation points.

I've already given certain people +2, I can't edit it every time they post something useful, the list would go on forever.
