I fear there isn't much you can do about it :(
In which country do you live ?
As far as I know, this error is country specific (affects only some countries) and means that Microsoft currently doesn't allow the beta to be used because they are doing some maintenance.

If it continues, downgrade to the latest public full release, in this case MSN Messenger 6.2, see if you can log in, and if yes, wait for the full public (non beta) release of MSN Messenger 7.

Well im going to look on google, im going to write here the fixes of other ppl, so try all of them(if you want):

If you are using v7.xxx
Just go to Tools>Options>Connection
And erase all the ip addresses in de advanced part.

I believe this may be a proxy issue. Go to Tools->Options->Connection->Advanced Settings.

Open regedit go to hkey_current_user>software>microsoft>delete the folder named MSNMessenger do the same procedure but in hkey_local_machine>software>Microsoft>...

That's the best i finded for ya

ok people some of you guys need to learn how to read Microsoft coding -- the error message you're getting is from a firewall of some sort blocking your connection; i've set up several demo's to come up with solutions for y'all

FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH NIS (NORTON INTERNET SECURITY)

this is what messenger 7B (beta) told us...

The troubleshooter has determined that you may not have Internet connectivity. Please make sure that your Internet connection is working by using the Windows network troubleshooter.

This may be because a software firewall or other program is preventing MSN Messenger from accessing the Internet. Please verify that you have the latest updates for the following programs, which might be preventing a connection to the MSN Messenger service, and refer to the documentation for each program to verify that the program is set up to allow communication using MSN Messenger.
Please make sure you are connected to the Internet and try again.

Symantec Norton Internet Security

what the above means is that you MUST DISABLE or update i.e. buy a new version of NIS 2005 or higher...

</b> next is the age old problem of the wireless network again.. simply put MSN thinks you have no INternet connectivity so therefore you need to disable the firewall or allow the fixed IP address to pass through your router.

MICROSOFT WILL NOT RELEASE VERSIONS WHICH ARE COUNTRY SPECIFIC...

1) THEY WANT AS MANY OF THE PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD TO TEST IT

2) IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO MONITOR THAT MUCH INFORMATION

3) IT'S EASY TO REDIRECT THE IP FLOW TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE YOU'RE SOMEWHERE ELSE

so the question you guys have to ask yourselves is that is it worth it for them to do that?? the answer is no cus they might be sad geeks but they do a hell of a good job and DO HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO.

anyway hope that helps.. l8r people

Rob

and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD formatting a PC will not help the situation... it will erase the problem and MSN MESSENGERl... when you re-install the software you'll still have the same conflict as before... all the settings will be the same!! think about it !!! dumb ass

Robamey, please, don't double-post. (Y) Edit your previous post, instead.

And please, don't insult people for not knowing things.

I was having this same problem, when I uninstalled an old version of Norton it now works perfectly.
