Well first try another screen just to make sure its not your screen that died. Then if it's not your screen replace your video card.

Also check the screen plug. Make sure no pins are bent and that its in all the way.

If you need to replace your card, the GeForce 6600GT 128mb offers great performance and has an average price... around $160.00 for the AGP be sure to get the GT version...

If your motherboard has PCI-E slots, then you're in better luck, these cards usually cost less. And ATI offers some good cards like the Radeon X800GT 256mb is around $190.00

Assuming you want it for gaming, those cards should handle most games very well and are not extremely priced

lol, I tought of midrange cards :p and you can always ask parents, lol... but anyways...

I'm gonna assume you have AGP slot, PCI-E are cheaper anyways:

The GeForce 5500 256MB is a great deal at US$54.99, but for some bucks more you can get a GeForce 6600 at US$109, that will let you play most of the new games and not worry about upgrading for some time :)

Take a look at ATI's cards too, they have some good ones.

US$ 54.99 = 31.4552111 British pounds
US$ 109 = 62.3498456 British pounds

Google currency conversion, round it up. :P (I think the price should be about the same as in US..)
