O.P. Error Message When Installing.
I went to install Windows Plus and got this error message...

The application or DLL C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msgslang(2).dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation.

Any ideas how to solve this problem because it wont let me go any further, and please go step by step because i'm not very good at doing these things.

Thanking-You:D

RE: Error Message When Installing.
Long, but most thorough, method

Start by completely uninstalling everything.

Properly uninstalling a program is done by going to your Windows Configuration Panel and selecting "Add/Remove Programs".

1) Uninstall any Messenger related addon (this includes stuff like patches, SmileyCentral, SweetIM, MSN Content Plus, etc)

2) Uninstall Messenger completely!

3) In Windows Explorer (*) navigate to "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger" and completely remove that directory and everything in it.

4) In Windows Explorer (*) navigate to "C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger" and completely remove that directory and everything in it.

4bis) If you really want to clear everything (note: this will also remove all your settings), then follow steps 3 to 5 from the intructions given in:
"CookieRevised's reply to Windows Live Messenger BIG PROBLEM!".

5) Now reboot your computer

6) Redownload Messenger and install it
MSN Messenger 7.5 can be found here.
Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0812 can be found here.
Windows Live Messenger 8.1.0178 can be found here.
Windows Live Messenger 8.5.xxxx (beta) can be found here.

7) Redownload Messenger Plus! and install it
For MSN Messenger 7.x you need Messenger Plus! 3, found here.
For Windows Live Messenger you need Messenger Plus! Live, found here.

Short, but not always working, method

1) Close Messenger completely by right clicking its system tray icon and choosing "Exit".

2) Manually remove the file "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msgslang(2).dll". (*)

3) Install Messenger Plus!.

For which method? Long or short (I'm assuming long)?

And reboot = restart

OK 3 easy ways to do what cookies is saying for step 3....

1) Go Start -> Run -> Type "C:\Program Files\" -> Then Look for folder(s) called "MSN Messenger" (and "Messenger Plus! Live" if you removed that as well) and delete the folder(s). Then you can continue on to the next step.

2) Go Start -> My Computer -> Look for C: -> look For Program Files -> Then Look for folder(s) called "MSN Messenger" (and "Messenger Plus! Live" if you removed that as well) and delete the folder(s). Then you can continue on to the next step.

3) Similar to method 2 but you click my computer on your desktop.

Note: Anything in brackets is added or not relevant to you depending on what you have and haven't done.

(...)
Important: step 3 and 4 in my post does not involve deleting Plus! directories!

Windows Explorer is the program you use when you browse your files on your hard disk.

Start it by going to Start > Run > type "explorer"

or

Press WIN+E

Yes that did the trick brilliantly. I followed the instructions to the 'long method'.
Thanks very much, Emz :-D
