when i opened the chat log viewer for the first time today, i realised that i had logs that i was not even involved in! there were logs of my other contacts' conversations with their other friends. this kind of spooked me out, does that mean other people can read my conversations too? besides, i dont keep a history of my chats. thanks for helping

They will only be chats that have been made on your computer and only if logging is enabled. They can be freely viewed if there is no password set.

If someone else signed in on your computer then it might be their logs, but your contacts can't read your conversations.
