Okay, I'm having this problem since I've upgraded to Vista and I have no idea what to do about it. I know it has been asked before but those threads didn't help and I wondered if there's something changed which might fix this...

So, here I ask again:
When I try to set a password for my log files in the Plus! preferences and I click Apply, the following message pops up:

It's not that I really care about someone reading my logs, but I'm developing a log manager script so it would be nice if I could actually test my own scripts, see?

It seems like it doesn't occur when I create a new Windows account and log in there. But, before I re-create my account (once again), is there anything else I can try?

I would actually be interested if you could email me about that problem (mplus@patchou.com). This may be a problem in Plus! that can be fixed.

Hi,

I have the same problem but it worked fine when I first installed it, as far as I can tell from the date the logs were last modified it stopped working when I upgraded my account to administrator (had a seperate admin account before then). I've tried reinstalling WLM and Plus! several times, removing all settings and rebooting but nothing is working. Most of the possible solutions posted don't apply to Vista, such as reinstalling the latest cryptoapi since that only works on xp.

Patchou has emailed me and sent me debug versions of Plus! Live, trying to fix the problem. He succeeded, it seemed to be a Vista bug and the fix will be included in the next version of Messenger Plus! Live. Just be patient.

I have sort of the same problem as descibed above. I've experienced it before under WinXP, and was not able to figure it out then.
But the weirdest thing is that when it happened this time, it didn't happen before after the second install of MP!L. (I reinstalled MP!L in order to fix a bug with opening a new chat window. it took ages and a lot of CPU. Also had this problem under WinXP)

Is it maybe possible to reinstall some fresh versions of something that MP!L uses to encrypt logs?.

(running Vista Ulitmate 32-bit btw)

This was partially fixed in the latest versions, the next one will bring its own new fixes for the problem. Please post again if installing version 4.50 does not solve the issue for you .
