I was thinking maybe a conversation tab [plus feature - tabbed chats, not along the bottom of the screen] flashed blue when someone is writing a message?
It originally flashes orange just now but maybe when you don't have an unread message it would flash blue to show someone is writing it?
If you don't understand or are willing to make it for me please post and i'll describe it with more detail

no, i don't think this is possible. The orange flashing is a function of Windows itself, not of WLM/MSN. The orange flashing is an alert to say that the window is trying to alert you, and is not specific to WLM/MSN

I'm refering to the tabs on the actual conversations, not along the bottom of the screen

File > Plus! > Preferences > Conversations > Tabbed Chats

ahh, still not possible with a script I don't think. That would have to be added to Plus itself, not as a script

well my purpose it to try to have enough people in agreement so that the people out there add it to plus! [if it cannot be added as a script]

Also, there exists the problem of actually detecting that the person has started typing. See This Thread for an explanation of why

That has nothing to do with it actually.

This wouldn't be possible as a normal script, but maybe with a dll. The script would need to check if the text "<user> is typing a message..." is shown and if so, display a blue flash. Possible, but probably not really accurate, more so than any open window notifier, but not very accurate (the built in function for this isn't too great to be honest).

would only really prove significant for large replies but still would be useful

It could easily be done by Patchou, he can just check for incoming protocol messages holding this and then flash the tab.

It is possible with a DLL, yes, but it's a pain in the ass writing it, almost impossible.
