Comparing the width of all my dashboard icons I saw a small difference between MP!L dashboar icons and the others... I post a screenshot here to show you what I have found...

I'm pretty sure that this depends upon the width of the icon image resource itself but I don't really think this is a bug, I like the idea that Plus isn't wasting space unnecessarily...
If the height was different it would be a different story though.

dude... I don't think it depends of the width of the image... it must depend more in a width of that kind of bevel... I think that MP!L should keep this standar width as a professional final shape... I know what you mean but just think if all plugins doesn't care about this... would be a carnival...
