thanks for the replies guys. ok, i will check the jumpers and try again. the computer starts if i use only the 40 GB drive. also, the 40 GB is a ATA (samsung) while the 80 GB one is a SATA drive(seagate).

i dont think u can compress it to less than 750 mb. i think u can use a software to convert to vcd and then put it in more than one cds.

i dont think this can be done by parts. i tried using it, but the expression we get inside the second integration sign is even more complicated than the question itself. i tried substituting different forms of the expression, that hasnt helped me yet...

anyway, i think the problems fixed, at least for now. the hard disk is being detected and windows is running fine. i just removed all the wires and plugged them again!

it actually worked pretty well till two weeks back. i tried removing the old hdd and then using the computer, but it didnt make any difference. its still very very slow when running programs.
