Here is a MSN 6 Beta version, all patch:

This is a patch made by me (i dont know where other credit should be avaliable  ) and it will patch ALL versions of the MSN 6 beta!! (even the ones that arent released yet!)

It will:

* Remove the 2 ad banners (main window and phone window)
* Remove the (BETA) from the title bar
* Give access to all of the games (once ConfigCache.xml is edited)
* Allow Polygamy!

the reason this works (and will work for all of the future versions) is because it doesnt just make 1 file into another (patched version) it searches for the string that (for example) makes the ad show up (it could be anywhere in the program) and then it replaces the hex values it finds, with the ones i told it too!

This patch will also work on 'already-patched' versions! if you have removed the ad already, you can still use this patch to remove the beta, ad the games & do polygamy

Enjoy

No problem, to edit configcache.xml:

5.) Applying the MSN 6 Game Fix:
    Make sure MSN 6 is installed
    Log in
    Try the Launch Site button in an msn conversation, if it works congratulations if not, read the next step
    Exit MSN completely

Now follow the instructions for your windows version.

i.) Windows 9x
*Includes Windows ME*
    If using Windows profiles:

    Go to C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\(your username)\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\(your email)
    There should be a file called configcache.xml there, open it.

Find this:
        <AppDirPageURL>

        </AppDirPageURL>

change the URL inbetween those tags to:
http://appdirectory.messenger.msn-int.com/AppDire...ctory.aspx?L=en-US

Repeat this process with all the emails you wish games to work with.
    Login to MSN

    If NOT using Windows profiles:
    Go to C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\(your email)
    There should be a file called configcache.xml there, open it.

Find this:
        <AppDirPageURL>

        </AppDirPageURL>

change the URL inbetween those tags to:
http://appdirectory.messenger.msn-int.com/AppDire...ctory.aspx?L=en-US

    Repeat this process with all the emails you wish games to work with.
    Login to MSN

ii.) Windows XP

     Go to C:\Documents and Settings\(your username)\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\(your email)
     There should be a file called configcache.xml there, open it.

Find this:
        <AppDirPageURL>

        </AppDirPageURL>

change the URL inbetween those tags to:
http://appdirectory.messenger.msn-int.com/AppDire...ctory.aspx?L=en-US

     Repeat this process with all the emails you wish games to work with.
     Login to MSN

if you are using a newer version of msn 6, it is not (your email), it is a random number.

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by EvilSeph on 06-08-2003 at 09:15 PM

no problem,

edited the configcache instructions, just telling you, so burners doesn't look stupid, asking if win me is counted as win9x as it says it there now:P

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by burners on 06-08-2003 at 09:16 PM

yeah thanks a bunch....:|

EDIT:
oh yeah get ya now ive read it a few times, i dont look stupid, i thort u wer being sarcastic lol

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by sock on 06-08-2003 at 09:56 PM

And I guess NT4/2000/2003 Server go under Windows XP....

Another remark about enabling the games: In the recently leaked build 0256, the directory where you can find the ConfigCache.xml file is NOT your E-mail address (.NET Passport), but some random number. I don't know why they added these random number directories, they're weird. :-/

Anyway, cheers to Mikey from Neowin! :clap: :D

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by EvilSeph on 06-08-2003 at 10:00 PM

said that "if you are using a newer version of msn 6, it is not (your email), it is a random number."

all the way at the bottom of my huge enable games instructions :P

but thanks :)

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by sock on 06-08-2003 at 10:27 PM

Oh........... right, sorry. :)

Anycow, I noticed another thingie.... the advertizement banner in the Phone window does not get removed in build 0256. :( They must have changed the code that includes this banner.... :'(

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by provolino77 on 06-10-2003 at 10:29 AM

thanks a lot for the patch, I like all in one patch
One question:
after installing your patch, is it always necessary to modify manually configcache file with 100+ expiration days and us-us parameter to enable launch site button?
If yes, can you add this feature to your patch to make full automated patch without user operations?

Thanks a lot

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by EvilSeph on 06-17-2003 at 08:58 PM

mikezs, personally im sick of all these clones, as you said, people have "stolen" your idea, so..i wish to challenge all the developers with this:

To Developers:
"Can you make a patch which has 'switches', allowing the users to choose which part of the patch they wish to use and which part of the patch they choose to do without?"

If you can then try this too:
"As well as that, can you make it undo the changes? Allowing the users to un-patch their MSN without re-installing MSN? (Follow Heavy_K's example, if you don't know what i mean)"

Anyways, good job developers.
Thanks for your hard work mikezs

To the users: Do you think I am right, when i say what i say?

Regards,
EvilSeph

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by sock on 06-17-2003 at 09:08 PM

Here's a suggestion for you.... Get rid of the advertizement banner in the "Phone" window under build 0256, because it doesn't work with that build currently.

BTW, go doodle!! :D

Clones this, clones that... Everybody is affected by ideas. If no-one had released a patch for MSN6 in the first place, I wouldn't either.

When I saw that someone developed a generic patch, I thought it was a good idea to improve my (ALREADY EXISTING, mind you) patch and make it generic too. Other than that, mine can also remove the "user is typing" message.

So no, I don't think you are right.

Try my challenge, no offense has ever been intended:P

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by Seow Yan Yi on 06-18-2003 at 10:08 AM

I downloaded your patch ,but there is an error.( see the screenshot)

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by BooGhost on 06-18-2003 at 05:53 PM

thats' an error with your comp...
the file msnmgr.exe is the messenger you must have installed it in another place than the default... or changed its name ;)

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by sock on 06-18-2003 at 10:53 PM

Does any of these generic patches work with build 0268?

wow, this post is old :$

RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by provolino77 on 06-19-2003 at 11:20 AM

hi mikez :)
can you make updated patch for official msn preview?
Yours is the only that modify configcache.xml so I like it
you can remove games patch in the exe, with the official preview i red it's not necessary anymore, only configcache is needed :)

I would include that in my patch, but I don't wanna steal anyone's ideas :P
RE: MSN 6 ALL Beta Patch by provolino77 on 06-19-2003 at 02:13 PM

I think you can include this update to your patch, all msn 6 patches around the web made the same things... this is not a steal, only a way to make own patch more complete as possible :)
