Sorry, But that sounds like one F'ed up system. Your killing your ram bus and your SATA Speeds by putting converters on there... Sorrry, Thats my little rant for today.

ya i know.. that's why i took out the 256stick.. then i tested performance again and mem throughput was increased a lil... i figured that stick would bottleneck the ram bus but i wanted to try it out.. and i use the native SATA drives for my OS's and Games and crap.. and the ones taht are on the SATA converters for all my music and DL's and movies and crap.. although the SATA convertors do increase the performance when compared to the PATA interface.. but i just got in my new RAM and HD's and Case so im off to put'm in.. lata.. thnx for tha reply tho.. i figured someone would wanna flame the odd 256MB stick..  peace
RE: Whats in your computer(s)? by djf86 on 09-02-2003 at 09:28 PM

and the only real reason i use the SATA convertors is coz it looks nicer and crap like that.. i knew when i got'm that there would only be a marginal, if any, performance increase... but that wasn't my primary motive in purchasing them.. :D

RE: Whats in your computer(s)? by Mojoe on 09-10-2003 at 05:41 PM

You think i would post my specs here? My computer is too shit to be declared a calculator!!! My theory is that inside a computer is a hamster in a wheel - which turns to power the computer and do the shit a computer does (Look, it's a laughable comment but i made it up for a laugh :P). Everyone else has like Mr. Matcho hamster that does 300000000000000 things a second, whereas i have a fat, lazy half-dead thing, that barely breathes...

Well, that's a loada crap, but it always brightens up my day when i hear or say it.

RE: Whats in your computer(s)? by bra1nwash on 09-11-2003 at 05:38 AM

we dun need ur comments abt ur own stupid com...we juz need ur specs so if u dun want to post ur specs, then dun post anything...ok?|-)^o)

RE: Whats in your computer(s)? by sock on 09-11-2003 at 08:13 PM

Well.... Here's the stuff I can take out of my head right now. :)

Brother's crappy desktop computer:

- Currently, Windows 98SE. Before the HD died, we had 2 installations of Windows XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 1 and another one of Windows 98SE (boy, how I miss that redundancy now).
- Some Microstar motherboard based on some VIA chipset.
- Creative SoundBlaster onboard.
- Two USB ports or so, tons of other sockets, no USB 2 (I guess), no FireWire, no wireless stuff.
- Intel Celeron at approx. 633MHz.
- 128MB of some crappy kind of RAM.
- Currently, a 505MB (:|) Western Digital Caviar. Before it died, we had an IBM Deskstar with approx. 41GB. We gotta get that fixed.
- Philips CDRW (24x CD-R writing speed).
- Creative PC-DVD (6x).
- Creative DXR3 DVD encryption card.
- A broken Floppy drive. :|
- Two NIC cards: One for having a VPN with the ADSL transceiver, the other for having a LAN with the mobile computer.
- We had a 56KBPS dial-up modem, but we had to remove it because we only have 2 PCI slots. :|
- Some Asus AGP thingie with nVidia GeForce 2 MX.
- Power Supply? I dunno.
- Creative 2.1 speaker system.
- MAG Innovision 786FD, which is a 17" (16" viewable:@) CRT display.

Dad's "okay" mobile computer (I know less about it):

- Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 1 and all the updates.
- Compaq Presario 2100 Series (full-featured Presario).
- Two USB ports, tons of other sockets, no USB 2 (I guess), no FireWire, no wireless stuff.
- Intel Celeron (:() at approx. 2.0GHz, not mobile (but that's okay, as we usually use it plugged into the power grid).
- 256MB of RAM, dunno what kind. 64MB of the RAM is used by the graphics card; Windows gets 192MB.
- CDRW/DVD, not sure about speeds. :-/
- 30GB HD.
- Neatly designed computer body, not too slick though (it's a little... well, fat). But that doesn't bother me as much as the weight. On the other hand, the weight makes it more stable when using it on a desktop.
- The usual annoying KeyPad, TouchPad, two weak speakers, not sure about a mic.
- 15" (or was it 15.1"?:-/) LCD TFT display.
