Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.54.74 by Choli on 10-28-2003 at 09:23 PM

Have you donwloaded Plus! 2.50? Do you like it? Would you like to configure it further and access all its hidden settings (name on sign in, ...)? Yes?

Then Plus! Tweak! is for you. I've updated my tweak to the latest version of Plus! and you can download it from the attachment. It supports all the settings listed at http://www.msgplus.net/?view=help_registry

I hope you like it ;)

Thanks :)

Btw Patchou, shouldn't the default value for CommandErrorMessage be true? I've implemented it as true, because that's the default behavior if the setting isn't at the registry. Also, if you want, you can upload it to your site ;). Thanks.

Current Version:
Plus! Tweak! 1.1.14 for Plus! 2.54.74 or above.

Just a question though going through the seting are the default settings ok or is it better to edit them..and if so what is the best setting to have?

They are not important features or things that will make your Windows stop crashing. They are just little UI for functionality tweaks, and they are all described inside the program.

Why should I put that feature if it's in Plus!? You can use Plus! to backup and restore your settings ;)
RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by bach_m on 11-01-2003 at 02:40 PM

i get this error when i try to run it:

RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by Choli on 11-01-2003 at 02:57 PM

Your error is strange because you have XP and you shouldn't have any problem. Anyway, read http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=15...d=138209#pid138209 and donwload the file. Put it in the same folder where my program is or in c:\windows\system32

btw, you can use the program with messenger opened or closed. Doesn't matter.

RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by bach_m on 11-01-2003 at 04:17 PM

does the program explicitly look for it on the C: Drive? because thats not my system drive..... (long story)

No, it doesn't. The program asks the Operating System to use some of the functionalities of that file. Then the OS looks for that file in its folders (the windows, system and system32 ones) in the folders of the PATH variable and in the folder where the program is.

When i said you to put the file in c:\.... I meant your system32 folder, which is usually at that location. But if you changed the letters of your drives or installed XP in other drive and/or folder, you should put the .ocx in your system32 folder. It can be c:\windows\system32 or c:\winxp\system32 or d:\windows\system32 or.... do you understand me?

The thing that really matters is that you have a good installation of XP. If you installed XP and after that changed the letter of the drive where XP was installed that may cause you problems.
RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by Choli on 11-02-2003 at 10:47 AM

Updated the tweaker for the last version 2.51.68. Patchou changed several things and you should update. (Patchou, why did you change so many things?? :P)

Download at the first post.

Perhaps the next release would contain a updater, made by Dane Smith.

It you're Dane, sorry, but I have to reelase it now, and your updater has some problems.

I've attached my version of comctl32.ocx - maybe this one will work.

Thanks, but that didnt work either.. :\

(They were both the same file size)

I really want to use this.. :(
RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by CookieRevised on 11-02-2003 at 10:36 PM

what version is your OCX?
this here is v6.0.81.5...
(EDIT: removed again, was the same as Tochjo's...)
If it is the same filesize (even same version) it doesn't mean they're the same... yours could be corrupt ;)

Search your PC for other COMCTL32.OCX's, maybe there is somewhere a conflict, or it loads the wrong one (having an -bad- OCX in \windows where it normal would be in \windows\system32). Unregister and delete everything you find in windows, windows\system and windows\system32, then copy the one from Tochjo into your system32 directory, register it....

To register: REGSVR32 c:\windows\system32\COMCTL32.OCX
To unregister: REGSVR32 /u c:\windows\COMCTL32.OCX (directory may be diff. afcourse)

ERROR:
I get a error message that reads : failed to load control "toolbar" from COMCTL32.OCX. your version of COMCTL32.OCX may be outdated. make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application.

PROBLEM:
There are two or more identical files called comctl32.ocx on your computer.

SOLUTION:
There should be only one comctl32.ocx on the computer.   Search the c:\windows folder and all subfolders for all files named comctl32.ocx.
* Click the right mouse button on the file name, select properties, then version.
* Delete all comctl32.ocx files EXCEPT the newest version one
* Restart the computer.

Nice program I'm very grateful i hate modifiying the registry manually Coz it's boring

RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by CookieRevised on 11-09-2003 at 03:39 PM

* CookieRevised wonders what about the other keys in the registry, like BossProtectFirstTime....
Or the keys that you could change via the preference panel...
(although if all the keys are implemented, it would change the concept  of the Tweaker a bit -but not much though-)

RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by slang123 on 11-09-2003 at 05:18 PM

Theres some keys to change the height and width of the toasts, but its set to the msn messenger size as it is so i cant imagine anyone would want to tweak it

RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by CookieRevised on 11-09-2003 at 05:28 PM

slang123, errrrrr.... what you talking about???
There are almost 100 keys in
HKCU\Software\Patchou\MsgPlus2\your@email.com\Preferences

Well, keys like BossProtectFirstTime aren't settings but it would be great to have them at the tweaker, wouldn't it? Now I'm a very busy, but I'll try to get info about them and they'll be in the next release of the tweaker.

I know what you're saying. The goal for that would be to change the default user settings because since you sign in in messenger for the first time, the plus > preferencas menu allways display the last user settings althought you have signed out. I'll think about that. :)

That's not related to Plus! but Messenger, so find a MSN Messenger tweaker :P
RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by CookieRevised on 11-09-2003 at 07:44 PM

Well, what I meant was: The tweaker is more like a addition to the preferences panel. Sort of "Advanced Hidden Preferences Editor" (sort of anyway, so for the experienced/advanced user)

If ALL the keys are included it would be more like a normal tweaker i guess, but then it would be a pain in the but to look for those hidden preferences between those 100 keys... (Hmmm, maybe that the keys mentioned on www.msgplus.net can have an extra flag or color in your tweaker so that we know, they are the 'advanced/hidden' onces)

All the other keys, you can also change them with the preferences panel in Plus!, except BossProtectFirstTime, ToastPopupXXXX (and maybe some others).

Hmmm, so there would be three categories :)
1) Normal keys (which you can change via preferences)
2) Hidden keys/flags (like BossProtectFirstTime)
3) Advanced keys/flags (to ones mentioned on www.msgplus.net)

But Normal keys may not be implemented. I don't know.

I think Plus! gets the size from somewhere (in registry or other place) and puts its toasts as big as windows/msn messenger ones, but you can't change this.
am I wrong?

BTW: Oh, and a flag in the Tweaker for each key in what version off plus! it was introduced (hence, a compatibility-flag ;))
BTW: Oh, and .... naaaa, SHUT THE *BEEEP* UP COOKIE

About the SchedulerToastDelay... i really wish Patchou add that setting to his page :P

SoundThreadingModel: which preference is that setting?

ToastPopup*: sorry, slang123: It seems that you're right. my fault :$

Now the thing the matters is knowing how those settings (*FirstTime, ToastPopup*, SchedulerToastDelay, ...) works, which are their default values and which values the settings are between. I think we need Patchou's help in here.

y is teh name on sign in box not working? i cant seem 2 get it 2 wrk, can sum1 help me on how 2 do it?

RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by Tochjo on 11-15-2003 at 06:49 PM

Basically, if you want Messenger Plus! to change your name to something predefined every time you sign in, you can fill in the "New value" box and click "Change".

I have no idea what "Default value" does, though :-/

RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by KMD on 11-15-2003 at 07:27 PM

what are the values to use for SystemLogTimeStampFormat for version 2.21.57? They used to be %(symbol)....I want my system log to read Day of the week-12hr-minutes-seconds but these values aren't in the advance registry settings page anymore, only the values for 2.51.68. The values now listed don't work on 2.21.57. Anyone got them?

For the NameOnSignin key, the default button clears the value at the registry and puts an empty string. When Plus! sees that empty string it doesn't change the nick when you sign in.

Plus! versions 2.50 and above now use other format tags and keys like SystemLogTimeStamp have been replaced by SystemLogTimeStampFmt.
This new key (SystemLogTimeStampFmt, in this case) uses new tags. With these new tags you can't display (acording to Patchou) the day of the week in keys related to times (not dates). If you put
h'-'mm'-'ss
you'll get times like "7-21-09". That's all you can do. You try to put
dddd '-' h':'mm':'ss
but I think you won't get "Monday - 7:21:09". I think that's a limitation of Plus!
RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.50 by KMD on 11-15-2003 at 08:53 PM

I was trying to ask for the OLD symbols to use in the older versions...NOT 2.51.68.

Why do you want old symbols? are you using 2.21? :dodgy: update to 2.52 (tomorrow).
Anyway, here they are:
%a > Abbreviated weekday name
%A > Full weekday name
%b > Abbreviated month name
%B > Full month name
%c > Date and time representation appropriate for locale
%d > Day of month as decimal number (01..31)
%H > Hour in 24-hour format (00..23)
%I > Hour in 12-hour format (01..12)
%j > Day of year as decimal number (001..366)
%m > Month as decimal number (01..12)
%M > Minute as decimal number (00..59)
%p > Current locale's A.M./P.M. indicator for 12-hour clock
%S > Second as decimal number (00..59)
%U > Week of year as decimal number, with Sunday as first day of week (00..53)
%w > Weekday as decimal number (0..6; Sunday is 0)
%W > Week of year as decimal number, with Monday as first day of week (00..53)
%x > Date representation for current locale
%X > Time representation for current locale
%y > Year without century, as decimal number (00..99)
%Y > Year with century, as decimal number
%z > Time-zone name; no characters if time zone is unknown
%Z > Time-zone abbreviation; no characters if time zone is unknown
%% > Percent sign

Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.52.71 by Choli on 11-16-2003 at 09:29 PM

Updated the tweak:

  • Removed the (now) old SpecialMultipleMonitorSupport key.
  • Added the following undocumented settings:
    • BossProtectFirstTime
    • SchedulerToastDelay
  • I was going to add the ToastPopup* settings, but I'm not sure of their default values and I'm a bit lazy to make them work properly
Hope you like it ;)

I think the ToastPopup* keys are changed by Plus!.
Ie: like if you change the position of your Taskbar, these values will be updated... So they are not really tweaks. And also they depend on what messenger version you're using, I think (6.1 has different toasts then 5.0)...

BTW (y)(y)(y) for the tweaker...

Those are the reasons why I didn't add the ToastPopup* settings ;)

RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.52 by Choli on 11-28-2003 at 11:14 PM

I'm about one week late, but here it is: The tweak for Plus! 2.52.72. The difference is the QuickIconBgColor setting which it seems to me to have some bug. See this thread for more details.

As allways, you can donwload from the 1st post. Enjoy it ;)

Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.54.74 by Choli on 12-20-2003 at 07:03 PM

Sorry for double posting, but if not you wouldn't notice the update :P Well, at the first post you have the tweaker for :plus2: 2.54.74. Enjoy it ;)

Btw, Patchou, if you read this: you should update the advanced settings page at msgplus.net with this keys:
ValidateQuickIconKey
UseTagForCustomName
ImprovePopupMenus
SchedulerToastDelay

RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.54.74 by Animefan on 12-22-2003 at 01:02 PM

It sure is nice, but I dont understand anything of all these features :D

RE: Plus! Tweak! for Plus! 2.54.74 by Tochjo on 12-22-2003 at 01:07 PM

All the available registry settings (or almost all) are explained at http://msgplus.net/index.php?view=help_registry.

When i posted the tweaker, at that page weren't explained the settings I listed before. Today, Patchou added the 3 first ones. the SchedulerToastDelay setting is still missing :P

Choli, I've got a challenge for you ;)
To add EVERY registrykey (and then make the special ones you got know in red or something)... In this way, it would be the tweaker among tweakers ;)

Well, I don't see the point of changing a setting via my tweak if you can do it with the plus > preferences menu.
Anyway, if you give me a complete list of the settings, with a little description and a possible default value (the same that is in http://www.msgplus.net/?view=help_regisrty), I'll do it. (i have no time to do it myself :P)
