The (new) location to change is at 0x000206C4 (it is the same location as in Messenger 6.1.0202)...

There are two TAB-services available now (including one with extra games!):

The first one is the one by Jared_ (who is currently developping the ability to add/remove tabs), more can be found here: http://msntabs.ausmade.net/.
To use this service, you have to go to location 0x000206C4 and change
http://config.messenger.msn.com/Config/MsgrConfig.asmx
into
http://msntabs.ausmade.net/MsgrConfig.asmx############
(where # is a 0-byte thus 0x00)

Doodle's patch does exactly that...
and Rolando's patch does exactly that... (this patch should also work for other 6.1.x versions)
(The tabs you get: MSN Alerts, Neowin, MsgPlus, MSNFanatic, Triople-Extended... )
(NOTE: CURRENTLY THIS SERVICE SEEMS TO BE DOWN)

To use this service, you have to go to location 0x000206C4 and change

Koen's patch does exactly that...
(The tabs you get: MSN Alerts, MSN GSM, MSN Entertainment, Neowin, MsgPlus, MSNFanatic, Triople-Extended... This patch will also enable the extra games!!!)

To patch a file yourself, you must be very experienced and you must know exactly what you're doing...

CLOSE messenger completly before applying the patch (this goes also for ANY patch you use)! And remember these patches are ONLY for MSN Messenger 6.1.0202 or 6.1.0203...

is it possible to have the extra games and the custom tabs patched at the same time (the url of the config seems to be at the same location )?

I don't have a games-patch to try this out...

Whenever I find a games-patch I'll see what the problem is why you can't have tabs and the extra games at the same time....

i looked at the location with winhex... the extra games config file is in the same location where the custom tabs r supposed to go, so it overwrites it and the custom tabs disappear

btw, Jared (the programmer of the custom tabs) said that in the new version it will be possible to have both patched

it doesn't work on my computer says sumat about an error or the tabs are all ready installed but they are not working

ok, im kinda stupid.....so is it or is it not possible to have the custom games patch aswell as the custom tabs patch at the same time??

I have Windows X 6.1.0.203... then why does this error occur while patching?

Because msnmsgr.exe wasn't found ("file not found") or is still running ("file access error")....

the brute force way: CTRL-ALT-DEL, kill the process(es) msnmsgr.exe, try again

It's still being used by something..... try closing it completly the good way... (right click in systemtray, choose exit)....

Windows doesn't always release his objects very good...

If that doesn't help, you can try to make a copy of msnmsgr.exe and patch that copy, then replace your original msnmsgr.exe with this copy by deleting msnmsgr.exe and renaming the copy to msnmsgr.exe....
Otherwise, make sure that msnmsgr.exe doesn't start when you start your computer. After that restart your computer (hard way to make sure the process is killed )

Well I've tried to copy the file to another dir and patch it, but the error it reports this time is "File size/version mismatch"

Not sure if this has been mentioned, i haven't read the whole thread.. but there has been an update on Koen's Game Patch which also includes the custom tabs fixes and also i think a custom url Http://mess.be and http://games.mess.be/ for more info.

No. I mean like when you download it to install it, the ifrst time I did it, it wouldn't work either. I have to download it again to make it work. Like perhgaps part of the file is lost in the download the first time but gets picked up second time.
