Norwegian Translation correction by NeoRevan on 12-21-2003 at 12:10 AM

Yeah, just some stuff in the Norwegian section I want to bitch about:

Section: MainMenu
Current text: SoundPref=&Lyd Innstillinger...
Fixed text: SoundPref=&Lydinnstillinger...

Section: [PrefDlg.AppearanceMain]
Current text: DockingCheck=&tillat vindusfeste når vinduet flyttes
Fixed text: DockingCheck=&Tillat vindusfeste når vinduet flyttes

Section: [PrefDlg.AppearanceMain]
Current text: Text3=Når den er aktivert, vil den feste kontakt vinduet til kanten av skjermen om du flytter det til venstre eller høyre på skjermen.
Fixed text: Text3=Aktivert vil kontaktvinduet festes til kanten av skjermen om du flytter det til venstre eller høyre på skjermen.

Section: [Dialog.Duel]
Current text: EnglishOnly=Note: this feature is available in english only.
Fixed text: EnglishOnly=Obs: denne funksjonen er kun tilgjengelig på engelsk.

Thats my 2 cents anyways.
I rember that the Update text also was too long, but that I will not be able to check until the next update is here. ;)

just a note to Fixed text: EnglishOnly=Obs: denne funksjonen er kun tilgjengelig på engelsk.

The 'OBS'-thing - in danish this means 'Oplysninger til Borgere om Samfundet' (Information to the citizens about the society) so if Plus! is in the society its great but normally OBS is published by the goverment to inform the citizens how to protect themself against firedamage, theifs, different kinds of diseases etc - not that the current Plus! has a function that is only available in english :D

I would use the word 'Bemærk' (danish) instead of 'OBS' - of course if 'OBS' isn't 'Oplysninger til Borgere om Samfundet' in Norway its great but I think it is :P

The reason I used obs was cos
1. I didnt think of any other word
2. I didnt want to risk it being too long
3. We use that word for lots... on TV, we see it if there has been a change in the program airing times.
4. Its not THAT picky. If I were to correct things that picky, I would attack all the "ett" (the number "1") that should be "et" ("a/an")

(damn... I need a sig like that too...
I got it... *ahem*)

There are quite a lot of languages in eMule Plus... Im not very active there, I just pop in from time to time to see if anyone bitches about the translation. :P

RE: Norwegian Translation correction by Kian on 12-22-2003 at 10:28 AM

eMule Plus! ?

Whats that ?

RE: Norwegian Translation correction by NeoRevan on 12-22-2003 at 11:55 AM

Erm... you asked how many were in my translation team.
Im no translator for Messenger Plus, so I assumed it was eMule Plus you were talking about.

eMule Plus is a mod of the eMule client. eMule is a "lite" version of the eDonkey client.
Do a search on google or something

I know eMule I just can't see the relation between Plus and eMule and well... forget it - my bad :D

And since you wrote "Plus Norwegian translator" I just thought you were a translator

We are a total of 10 translators for the Norwegian part - not everybody participates every time.

I have been organizing the translations, and corrected any potential mistypings or errors.

I've been sick for some time now, so I haven't been able to check the last translations before they were sent in (not that I consider myself the only one who can do this).

The team is working very quick on each update, so a couple of bad sentences can slip through, sure.
I must say that I'm impressed with the speed and quality many in our translation team deliveres.
But we DO try to remove any errors or cases of bad spelling we find.
I always test all the translated functions before sending the language file in for implementation.

I have saved your suggestions, and will have a look at them at the next update.

Usage of the word Obs is commonly used in Norwegian, but do have different meanings.

"obs : I obs a3 (fork. av observant) oppmerksom, påpasselig være o- på noe . "
"obs: Ofte Besvarte Spørsmål"
++

The point is to get the users to understand what you're meaning with your sentence, so "obs : bla bla" will be a 'good' translation of "Note:".

Då foreslår eg at du tar en kikk på "Blokker/Fjern blokkering"... somduser, er den alt for lang for knappen ;)

Then I suggest you take a look at the "Blokker/Fjern blokkering"...
as you can see, it is waay too long for the button ;)

RE: Norwegian Translation correction by jOWE on 12-31-2003 at 06:26 AM

If you look really close, you'll see that the text fits fine, but the button is to small ;)

Seriously; Any suggestions ?
Could replace it with just "Blokker".

Continuing this button suggestion shit in the other thread where people actually can be assed to reply.
