When a user has set the "away" option in their profile, and they are offline, an icon will be shown for their status next to their posts: [Image: away.gif]

Would you rather have it shown in text? For example:

Status: Offline
Status: Online
Status: Away

For consistency, I think it would be better to have words for all three of them. And another very wise remark has already been made too:

"text", and it doesn't need a link actually like it is on the current image, as you can click on the persons name...

You should have made it a multi-selection poll... I'm stuck between "text" and "Who cares" :P

But I voted "text" cos I think that's better.  How about a dark red for the colour?  Or a slightly reddish grey (careful it doesn't go pink :P)  I think black and bold just looks to important, more active than "Offline" when it should be less.

I mean, offline and away both indicate the person is not there, and therefore gray would be good. You could use a different kind of grey to indicate the difference.

Red draws my attention more than green, while I believe online is more important than offline :-/

CookieRevised's Offline one looks nice; I'm not so sure about the Away colour though... Actually I still think red's the wrong choice.

CookieRevised stop messing around with your posts it's confusing, lol o/j...anyway the second one is great it makes sense how the grey is faded for away and less faded for Offline…If there was a vote for CookieRevised’s second colour system you’d have my vote…:D

The different statuses are under the following templates:

postbit_away
postbit_offline
postbit_online

Very self-explanatory :P

MSN? They aren't the same as MSN's... "away" here means: you're not online and you're unlikely to come back any time soon... "offline" means: you're at home but you can't be bothered to log on...

That's exactly what I'm replying on..... I'll make myself a bit more clear: "away" on this forum means: you're even less likely to come on the forums then being "offline". And if you see the colors red, green, grey... in what order would you put them (think of a traffic light)? green/grey/red... no? So that would be online/offline/away...

I definately like the idea of changing it to text rather than an image, but I can't really suggest which colours would be best as I so far like all the suggestions posted so far. :p

Green / Red (or maroon :gfdrin:) / Grey would probably be the nicest option. :)
