Screennames not showing colours by Tritous on 02-27-2004 at 11:09 PM

ever since I upgraded to msn 6.1 I've been having problems with using the IRC commands for colours in display names.  It doesnt accept them as valid and wont let me change it.  This is particularly annoying when i use a fair bit of colour in me sn.  Is this something that's happened to others or just me?

Do you use the /nick command, because if you just past it in MSN Messenger it wont work...

A very detailed "howto" can be read in this thread:
http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=18...d=165431#pid165431

Also, official tutorial on colors:
http://www.msgplus.net/index.php?view=tutorial&tut=multi-format-colors

And, maybe a tip for in the futur, there is a search button on top of the page, you only have to enter "color nickname" and you'll find your answer for sure. ;)

one little note more: what version of plus do you use? Be sure you're using the last one, 2.54.74. I you have a (very) old version of Plus, the color feature for nicks may not work.

I'm not using nicknames, i'm just using normal display names under the normal msn options.  It always used to work, but not any more.  I have the newest version of MSN plus.  bth i never really use the commands, i only use plus for the sounds, colours and a couple of odds and ends.  Would using nicknames resolve the problem?

Yes. To display colors in nicks, you must use the /nick command of Plus, as Cookie said.
