Want to change your Ink color to 16777216? Here you go... (Brief registry key intro) by Mnjul on 03-01-2004 at 02:49 PM

I'm just here to introduce you to the registry key, and I hope someone will make a small tool modifying this registry setting soon;) (If there is still no one doing so after 24 hours, I'll make one myself anyway:P)

The registry key is at HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\PerPassportSettings\(Your passport ID) -> InkColor
Just modify it as you did for message text color before. It's a Binary key by now and the format is like RR GG BB 00, such as setting it ff 80 c0 00 creates a pink-like color. (Of course, you need to re-open all your conversation windows so it takes effects)

RE: Want to change your Ink color to 16777216? Here you go... (Brief registry key intro) by Choli on 03-01-2004 at 05:02 PM

I'll do it.
However I first have to install that pluging from mess.be to enable ink messages, right?
* Choli goes to mess.be

i thought this would be like another box on the pop up colour box i'll fake screen shot what i mean, I'll post this in the plug-in forum for MSN HANDWRITING aswell as a small extension idea.

RE: Want to change your Ink color to 16777216? Here you go... (Brief registry key intro) by Choli on 03-02-2004 at 11:30 PM

The idea is good, but I can't do that (well i could but it'd take me too much time that I don't have). Patchou could implement this (with the ink feature) but he said he won't do. So maybe wtbw could add this. I don't know.

RE: Want to change your Ink color to 16777216? Here you go... (Brief registry key intro) by aNILEator on 03-03-2004 at 12:30 AM

noname said to go to you. how long would it actually take to edit the msn handwriting plug-in to add that 1 more colour box with a premade source-code to bring up a colour chooser box???

RE: Want to change your Ink color to 16777216? Here you go... (Brief registry key intro) by Mnjul on 03-03-2004 at 10:12 AM

Very long, fukafly, because it involves lots of Windows hooking or something similar to it. I bet it's nothing simple API can do.

RE: Want to change your Ink color to 16777216? Here you go... (Brief registry key intro) by CookieRevised on 03-03-2004 at 10:14 AM

Indeed, it would be the same as Patchou is doing with Plus!, so...
And he talked about it before that it isn't easy at all...
And I know of only 1 program that can hook those screens/objects and that is Plus!...

Indeed, I was quite amazed when I saw the color box in MSN Messenger's text color window;)

Perhpas will would do it:P

wouldn't patchou give choli or yourself the code to that docking feature then? or would copy, pasting it with slight tidying up not work?

do you mean the hooking feature? anyway, patchou won't give his code and in case i have it it would be a bit difficult make it work, because the program should be running all time and i'd have to change a lot of things, begining with the syntax used by the programming language and ending with the "name" of the panel displayed.... in any case too much work.

Yah , Im a lot better in VB than I am at web programing but I dont think you can edit registry with web programing. Because than you could make it so when the page loads that the registry is edited and that could end up in major kaos

of course. Let web scripts edit the registry is a very big security hole. :mipdodgy: I don't know too much about doing web scripts, but that's common sense.

My regset.php used to help modify the Plus! registry settings... it generated a *.reg file that you could open directly and import, or save to open later. It couldn't directly change the registry, of course, but it made it easier.
RE: Want to change your Ink color to 16777216? Here you go... (Brief registry key intro) by Mnjul on 03-11-2004 at 12:57 PM

I just have too much time messing around...:P So...

You can now customize your color. Still not satisfied and want to customize the size of your Ink Pen?

The registry value is...
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\PerPassportSettings\(Your passport ID) -> InkPenSize

Yep, it's still a binary.
If you want to have an ultra-slim pen, just set it 01 00 00 00. The larger the number is, the wider your pen will be.

The number goes like this:
01 00 00 00
02 00 00 00
...
...
ff 00 00 00
00 01 00 00
01 01 00 00
...
...
ff 01 00 00
00 02 00 00
01 02 00 00
...
...
et cetera.

I myself have tried, and, you have a 1-cm-wide (I mean, it's comparatively large) pen when the registry key is set 00 04 00 00. Don't try to set it like 00 ff 00 00...you'll get unforeseen troubles:P

I get this error,
you need that file because the program uses a slider that is stored in that file. you should donwload it and put in you system32 folder or in the same folder the program is.
