align="absmiddle" in images by Choli on 03-16-2004 at 08:10 AM

Why are there smilies with the align="absmiddle" attribute set and there are others that don't have it?
I mean: I write :spam: and I get :spam:and it's aligned at the middle of the line. However, with [img]http://msghelp.net/images/smilies/cownana.gif[/img] I get [Image: cownana.gif] and that's not centered in the line of text.

The same happens if I use [img] tags. The image hasn't got align="absmiddle". In fact, just now, before posting, I think only smilies have it and [img]s don't.

Can align="absmiddle" be added to all images? Can I do something to center images?

RE: align="absmiddle" in images by WDZ on 03-16-2004 at 04:47 PM

Smilies have it so they look nice :) after (or within) a line of text.

[img] is used for images other than smilies, so that's why it doesn't have the align. I dunno if there's any reason to not add it... :s

so if there ins't any reason (you dunno if there's one) you'll add it, won't you?
RE: align="absmiddle" in images by WDZ on 03-16-2004 at 09:18 PM

I'll add it now and remove it if I see that it has some problem... :p

Maybe someday I'll add a tag similar to what's in the shoutbox... [img]cownana[/img] would be the same as [img] http://shoutbox.menthix.net/images/smilies/cownana.gif[/img]. :p

Alignment test --> [Image: cownana.gif]

looks (Y) now

I have a little noob question, btw :$:
How do you mix unformatted myCode tabs and formatted ones in one post??

RE: align="absmiddle" in images by Choli on 03-16-2004 at 09:29 PM

thanks WDZ ;)

do you mean how I can post this: :) and this: :) ? or post [quote] and [/quote] without it quoting?

hehehe, use the Atl + 240 character between the tag characters.

:o I never knew that.

* musicalmidget goes to test. :p

Perhaps I should add some little easy-to-type yet not-commonly-used code that you can put inside tags, but it will be removed before the post is displayed. For example:

[[r]img]http://localhost/forums/images/pound.gif[/img]

The [r] code is consistent with [b], [i], [s], etc.... the "r" stands for "remove this." Anyone have a better idea? :p

RE: align="absmiddle" in images by Johnny_Mac on 03-16-2004 at 09:52 PM

A check box on the post reply/quick reply saying disable myCode tages in this post?

Doesnt allow mixed myCode threads. Got it. :P

 in that case use [rt]

yep: a no parse tag: it'd be similar to the [code] one but it'll just only put the text without parsing tags. It'd be like [noparse]. Also a [noicon] tag (or [nosmilie] what you like more) would also be useful
RE: align="absmiddle" in images by Johnny_Mac on 03-16-2004 at 09:59 PM

Some thing more simple to type would be better... maybe...

[r][quote..../quote][/r]

Anything within the r's isnt formatted? :undecided:

Nice :) but, what if adding an ampersand at the beginning of the tab/icon? like in html (kindof):
[&quote] &:)
or combine & and [&] so it would be: [&url] and [&]?
The idea is good, anyway ;)

that's what i suggested :-/
[quote]sdfsdfsfd[/quote]
and you get
[quote]sdfsdfsfd[/quote]

edit:
the & thingy is nice, you'd be able to post [&img] and you get [img] and if you post [&&img] you get [&img] and so
RE: align="absmiddle" in images by Johnny_Mac on 03-16-2004 at 10:06 PM

Oh.. :P

I dont understand the term noparse thing... :undecided:

I thought your post was suggesting more then one tag, depending on what you were showing. e.g. image, emoticon, etc...

But that's more difficult to add. :dodgy:

Trying to make me work harder, eh? :refuck:

[r] is a nice idea.

I suppose I could modify the code I already have for
code:
, and change that to [noparse]. Then for code without parsing you'd do [code][noparse] or something. You could use [noparse] wherever you want though...

Impossible as far as I'm concerned. :-/
[/code]

yes and no
that's up to wdz to decide what he want to include and what's easier to implement :P

hm??
Outputting any [&* as [* and outputting any &[icon] as [icon] , I don't see the problem... :undecided:
RE: align="absmiddle" in images by WDZ on 03-16-2004 at 10:25 PM

If I remove all the "&" characters after parsing the BBCode, how will you post "Testing & Trashing," or how will the board output < or >? Even if that problem is bypassed, there are other problems... in order to detect if a smilie code has a "&" in front of it, regular expressions would have to be used, and there's like 150 different codes that have to be checked... some people have 50 posts per page... you get the idea. :-/

RE: align="absmiddle" in images by WDZ on 03-17-2004 at 05:22 AM

Check this out...

code:
code :)
code:
[i]code[/i] :) (this one uses [noparse])
[img]http://shoutbox.menthix.net/images/STFU.jpg[/img]

Should be useful, right? :^)
RE: align="absmiddle" in images by kao on 03-17-2004 at 08:45 AM

nice, will be useful when explaining how to do things to new people :P

you don't need to check each tag as i said, a regex that focuses on [&(*) and outputs [(*)
(*) means (*) as regular expression. so if i wrote [&offtopic] it would still appear [offtopic]
Get the idea now?

I was talking about the smilie codes too though... your & idea would be much more difficult to implement for them.

Yes, that's reasonable... But... the & thing in tags is ok, isn't it?
RE: align="absmiddle" in images by WDZ on 03-18-2004 at 08:36 PM

Yeah, it would be possible, but I already added [noparse], so... :p
