What is the length of names for members?? cause i think it should be shortened.

example rakesh_the_great@hotmail.

and when he posted, it makes the site look really weird.

Yeah I gotta agree!  I think something like 20 characters is more than sufficient perhaps even 11 would be enough Christopher is only 11 and that looks too long

RE: Member Names by surfichris on 03-17-2004 at 10:19 AM

Usernames are currently limited to 32 characters. I am assuming WDZ assigned this value..

RE: Member Names by Pappapishu on 03-17-2004 at 02:25 PM

well, maybe not shorten them but skip the line when they get to a certain number of characters so this wouldn't happen

I guess I did... the MyBB default is 30, which isn't much better... I'm not sure why I made it 32... :-/

Names of that length are OK if they have a space in them, because they'll wrap onto a second line... unfortunately, the username mentioned in the first post has no spaces. :-/

musicalmidget is 13 characters and to be honest, I don't think it looks that long.  It doesn't change the page layout or anything.

I've got to agree though that some names are just far to long and I think the limit should be reduced a little. :-/

* Johnny_Mac votes 17 characters. :banana:

not many names have spaces in them though :-/

17 Sounds reasonable enough to me.  I don't really think it should be any more than 20 at a maximum...but then it's not up to me. :p

RE: Member Names by kao on 03-17-2004 at 09:18 PM

* kao votes 3 characters.

:P

As long as my name fits in fine i'm happy :refuck:

No, seriously :P i think about 20-25 is by far enough :undecided:

RE: Member Names by user27089 on 03-17-2004 at 09:19 PM

but whats the point in 20 characters, when most names have a maximum of 10 characters in them anyway, its just pointless, :)

RE: Member Names by kao on 03-17-2004 at 09:26 PM

Well, seen as though JMac has 17, mm has 13... 10 is not enough...

I just think 17 is a good limit that won't alter the page look. :P
RE: Member Names by WDZ on 03-17-2004 at 09:42 PM

 @ Maths :d :p

17 would probably be good... it would be enough for "PiratesOfTheCarib". :refuck:

But why isn't it a nice even number? :dodgy:

RE: Member Names by musicalmidget on 03-17-2004 at 09:43 PM

6+1+3 = 17? :p

Now that Fraisie is no longer known as PiratesOfTheCarribean (when did that change? :p), I don't think anyone would be affected by changing the limit to 17.  Perhaps that is the best limit?

18 then. :refuck:
RE: Member Names by Johnny_Mac on 03-17-2004 at 09:54 PM

I decided 17 because at the time of thinking I was look at this site: http://mathmuse.sci.ibaraki.ac.jp/pattrn/PatternE.html ?

:refuck:

17 is the best age IMO... therefore the best num of characters to use. :P

Well, even if I set the limit to 3, it would only apply when registering... if you already have a long name, you can keep it. :p
RE: Member Names by kao on 03-17-2004 at 11:04 PM

Oh wait JMac's name isn't 17 :o he said 17 so i thought his name was 17, and i didnt count

 @ the pic :P

RE: Member Names by WDZ on 03-18-2004 at 03:58 AM
