Allow poll vote changes? by WDZ on 04-28-2004 at 04:49 PM

Vote.

Note that users wouldn't be allowed to change their votes if the poll expired, or if the poll/thread was closed.

Every once in a while, you see someone accidentally vote for the wrong option(s)... this feature would be useful to them. It would also be useful if the poll is edited and a new option is added (you don't have to reset the votes to add an option).

Go for it.

Yes, it could be useful for people who accidentally vote. Or if someone decides to change their opinion suddenly. But some people may not want people to cheat (for example the Hitler's death date thread). So I believe their should be an checkbox or radio button option in the Poll creation page with "I wish voters to be able to change their vote"…

I go with Anubis's idea.........i dont c any reasons why this shouldnt be allowed.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I didn't post it because I'm lazy and don't want to work more... :p

Oh well, I'll edit this poll, add another option, and reset the votes.

Well, didn't get many votes, but I guess it's decided.

After I get these tester/translator images set up, I'll focus on polls again. :p

but would this lead to admins changing the options of others?

No, the feature would only allow the voter to change his/her own vote(s).

Blah... a bit overkill, IMO. If you're worried about users changing votes, just disable it. :p
RE: Allow poll vote changes? by WDZ on 05-01-2004 at 05:59 AM

The feature should be fully working now... notice the [Undo] link under the poll results table... :p

Instead of actually editing your vote, you can delete it, then re-add it if you want. This method was much easier to code, and I think simpler is better.

poll is being dodgy.  me first open thread and its showing as if me already voted , but me havn't

RE: Allow poll vote changes? by Tochjo on 05-01-2004 at 06:31 AM

That's because the poll is closed.

RE: Allow poll vote changes? by Chrono on 05-01-2004 at 07:03 AM

3rd option = (Y)

But people would be able to change their votes all the time per poll or just once? :P

RE: Allow poll vote changes? by Stigmata on 05-01-2004 at 07:10 AM

went to undo

You have not voted on this poll.

Only allow one vote change? Why? If you can change it once, you should be able to change it 200 times... what's the problem? :p
