Stuffplug-NG Re-started by TheBlasphemer on 05-07-2004 at 09:28 PM

I have said many times StuffPlug-NG was discontinued.
I did think about continuing it, but at its current state it is too unstable, and too big to go fix everything.
So I kind of decided i should go focus on other things.
However, SPNG seems to keep haunting me, and even now, after months of never speaking about it, someone came to me claiming he had it...

All this signals seem to me that StuffPlug-NG was really popular,
So I want to continue it. However, as said before, fixing it;s current state is more work than re-writing it from scratch.
Thus i decided to take the easy way, and re-write it.

But now another problem strikes me...
Where do i start? There where just so many commands and features, that i have no clue what would be the most important one.
This is where YOU come in. I want user opinions on which features are most wanted, preferably from either Stuffplug v1.x, features that where announced for StuffPlug-NG before, or features i made in other plugins.
There's just one thing I don't want to see in this thread, and that is new feature requests... Most new feature requests i have seen so far are simply impossible, and i don't feel like having to filter out the impossible ones here.

So please tell me your opinion, I am really curious :)

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by kao on 05-07-2004 at 09:31 PM

woooo :D

good luck on it and hope you get it better and more popular than it was before, i'll spread this link out a bit :P

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Mike on 05-07-2004 at 09:34 PM

Well...
The last version had a DP Stealer and a clock for your dp...
They never worked for me...
If you can...Can you make them work? :)

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by ZiPP on 05-07-2004 at 09:34 PM

The feature I found most helpful was the popups when people initiate a conversation. Good luck with it :)

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Martini on 05-07-2004 at 09:40 PM

Yeahh I liked 1.5 keep the good work coming...
I prefer to keep the google search and the talkers in the new SP

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Patchou on 05-07-2004 at 10:09 PM

That's good news.. this plugin was nice, full of commands and very promising. Good luck!

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Slack2116 on 05-08-2004 at 03:01 AM

thats sweet that your starting again.  i like the Global and Personal Popup thing.

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Alpha Binary on 05-08-2004 at 03:40 AM

keep the google search! it rocks ;)

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Underlord on 05-08-2004 at 03:56 AM

Translation and talkers are also usefull. I don't know about the custom sound thing though :/.

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by BiZaRrE on 05-08-2004 at 04:43 AM

Things to keep:

 • Talkers
 • Hide Window (/xhide)
 • Search Google + display Google top 5 results
 • Translate using Google
 • Calculate
 • Global + Personal pop-up
 • Big letters
 • MSN Online time
 • CPU info +speed

those r the thinsg i used most with SP.  with this plugin there isn't really a need for many others 'cos of allt he feautures! the only ones i use r SP, WMPlus!2 and HandWriting

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Stigmata on 05-08-2004 at 06:48 AM

new features  ideas

- pop up blocker ( when you get loads of popups, msn me for the code if your stuck)
- add wtbwplug maybe? and then you could turn it off and on??
- the silly emotion thing you made you could add, which could be turned on and off
- CHEAT PLUG!!!!!! :P hehe
stuff on the stuffplug ng beta
- on the d/p clock, make it so it replaces the last clock bit, becuase i hated having to delete loads
- outside ip doesnt work, so it could do with fixing
- kazaa list only works with kazaa lite
- when in webcam mode, make the d/p stealer auto fix on the size of the screen, so you can steal hole webcam images not just the top corner
-  some more compatability with mirc : like change mirc nickname, idend, connect, disconnect...... change server to... (could be seperate pluging its self)
- keep custom sound :P very good
- kazaa list, it shows ones that are blank ¬_¬ which is a bit pointless
- list url's online works when u use ie. maybe firefox surport ???

so you your guna re realise stuffplug ng

what about what everyone realy wants

CHEAT PLUG!!!! :P

ok thanks :P

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Msgmaster on 05-08-2004 at 07:52 AM

i would think you could incorporate a chat bot into it so if you couldn't be bothered to chat to someone you could activate the bot and they would chat with the bot instead of you

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Mike on 05-08-2004 at 08:05 AM

Try /yeahright ...
By the way...
Welcome to these forums, Msgmaster! :wave:

It would be also cool if the bot could eat, and sleep for us while we do other things.....

hahahaha jk

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by TedoDude on 05-08-2004 at 08:14 AM

Please Keep:

Personal Popups / Global Popups
MSN Time
Google Results

Although I know you did not want any new features, I have to support a bot being included - I have not yet managed to get a bot working :'(

Thank You for starting again - It is the plugin I use the most :)

Well Done :P

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by superstevie2k4 on 05-08-2004 at 08:26 AM

Was just thinkin, im not sure if you wanted this, but as msn is being they're tight little selves... On MSN messenger, chat boxes, when you type an emotion, it automatically comes up with the emotion instead of the text like ( :) ) as soon as you typed the ')' it would come up. Maybe be able to disable or enable that.

Sorry if it isn't what you wanted, just a suggestion... a small? suggestion...

Check www.mess.be, I've made a patch for that recently :)

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by M-Head on 05-08-2004 at 04:45 PM

Thank you! I love Stuffplug, and have been waiting to go onto mess.be and see the news I saw, since I heard that it was being abandoned!

I can't really think of many features, but please keep the commands about system specs, and the google/googlesay commands.

On a side note, I never really get get the talker things...never knew how to use etc.

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by MC Inferno on 05-08-2004 at 04:54 PM

ive never heard of this before, but im gonna download this now (Y) hahahahahahaha :P

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by dotNorma on 05-08-2004 at 05:06 PM

Good , I restart most of my projects bunches of times and they end up being better than the original plan.

1. Search Google
2. Calculater

Those were the two most useful , IMO

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by riahc3 on 05-08-2004 at 05:37 PM

i know altho your not the creator maybe you could put your version of the wtbwplug plugin (it could be called theblasphemerplug) because i liked that plugin alot but its not for 6.2 yes i know thats asking for a new feature but i might as well give it a shot. I have your plugin and i do belive that ive used 3 or 4 of the features but im not sure. Thats my request and thanks for the plugin(Y) (no im not sucking up so u can put ur version of the wtbwplug  either hehe)

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Banks on 05-08-2004 at 05:52 PM

i'd like you to incorporate the notifier so that when a contact opens your conversation window it will open one with them aswell, and maybe put text in red when they close it (like in Amsn)

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by M-Head on 05-08-2004 at 05:56 PM

how come the calculator is useful? i never really used it, so I don't know if it has features like long digit answers etc.

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Martijn. on 05-08-2004 at 08:56 PM

I've heard you were planning to place P2P stats in StuffPlug NG (before it was discontinued)... I'd like that :)

BTW: Good job, and good luck :)

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Wabz on 05-08-2004 at 10:10 PM

Good Luck DJM (Y)

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Pr0xY on 05-08-2004 at 10:38 PM

wow, nice man.  Its sweet to see your starting this up again.  Good luck.

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by KeyStorm on 05-08-2004 at 11:11 PM

Hey, I've been visiting your website always once per week for some months for the NG to appear until I got to know it had been discontinued (yeah, too late).
StuffPlug is sill a very good plugin with many usefull things.

I can't think of only one think to implement, so my opinion: Go ahead and keep adding stuff to it...

You could do a kind of plugin extension. Releasing the essential things in the basic package, and making then other plugins extensible to download from somewhere. So anyone could build up an own StuffPlug with the favorite command bundles.

For example: A downloadable bundle with all kind of Google related (or anything posted above, goodideas, but too much if you're only using a couple of them at the end) commands ready to plug into the SP-NG and ready to run. Even with StuffPlug being able to catch new commands installed on the fly and add them to the current list.

Making StuffPlug customizable. Many commands are offered take the ones you are interested in.

Whenever you want to add new things you just have to release more packages and you're done.

I know, it some more work to make it possible, but it would be very nice and attracting IMPOV. After all, you are an allmighty plugindesigner, afaik. Everything is possible ;)

Keep up the work (Y)

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by BooGhost on 05-08-2004 at 11:39 PM

things i liked the most
    - talkers
    - calculate
    - DP stealer
    - google
    - windows open/closed notifiers in form of Pop Up toasters :D

i think that's the things i liked the most :D

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by warmth on 05-08-2004 at 11:39 PM

I think that is a great idea, because i would never use everything in it.
Maybe it could came with everything, but you could remove the stuff you didn't want from the plug-in menu.

Also Status Saver might be something to add in.
RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by weirdal27 on 05-09-2004 at 12:22 AM

Now, maybe its just because i dont understand what a talker IS, that i have no dire need for it but whatever
off topic, but could somebody tell me what a talker does?

as for features, can you please keep the googlism one, i used it all the time
and the big letters one

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by KeyStorm on 05-09-2004 at 12:28 AM

A talker is a think that modifies your speech to some kind of symbols like 1337. Or that's what I understood :grin:, I might be wrong.

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by TheBlasphemer on 05-09-2004 at 01:07 AM

Ok, good news, Today I finished the CE (Custom Emoticons) and DP (Display Pictures) Stealing part.

I've attached a little screenshot with this message.
The blurred out things are the email addresses of the people which they come from.
On this screenshot, you only see DP's, but it will also catch CE's.
Why would this be better than others like sherv's ?
Well, Sherv's one scans your IE cache, which can take an incredibly long time.
Stuffplug on the other hand puts a hook into MSN where the display pictures and emoticons are received, and can extract the data needed to find the filename to it directly, which results in a speedy way of stealing :)

For now I'm going to bed.
Tomorrow i will try to start the talkers. Since this is a fairly complex part, there is a big chance I'll copy over bits and pieces from stuffplug v1.x, so dont worry your old talkers wont work anymore :)

As for the big letters, I wont be including them natively like in SPv1.x, but I'll just re-write it as a talker. You'll have to use "/xtalk big <text>" instead of "/xbig <text>" now :P
I hope thats not too much work for your lazy fingers :P
anyway, if you really wanted it, you could still make an alias for it ;)

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Stigmata on 05-09-2004 at 11:26 AM

will the old stuffplug ng beta testers, still be beta testers :P

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by Sunshine on 05-09-2004 at 11:33 AM

I had Stuffplug for a lil while but got rid of it cuz theres so many options (can't see the tree thru the woods)...lol....what i liked most was the block/unblock all contacts an the bit where u can display sytemstuff like ur processorspeed...keep that in ;)

I'll surely try ur new version when its finished.

about big DP's: In the preview window they will be resized, if you set them as DP, they will probably be resized too (didnt test it).
But if you save them, they will be saved as the original size :)
RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by speedy_kevin on 05-09-2004 at 05:18 PM

Very nice to hear this Blasphemer :D
I mostly liked the google things, the popups, and the notifiers

I dont think it's been said, but could you have an option on the pop up toast to delete an email when you recieve one without having to clicking on it, and waiting for the page to load and then deleting it, and waiting for the next one to open :P thanx (Y)

A Few "Thats a good idea"'s later and then cookie pointed out Patchou would'nt do it, so I posted the reply:

If Patchou can't do it, can anyone else do it? OR, be incorperated into the new StaffPlug?

Or like i say, its all at http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=24978

Just thought i'd sort it all out :D

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by reisyboy on 05-09-2004 at 07:13 PM

The things i liked alot in it was the Contact Notifier if they closed a window and the Google Search keep them and its Great :D

first of all its Stuffplug.
and second, please READ before you post. I stated quite clearly i did not want new feature requests -_-
RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by TheBlasphemer on 05-09-2004 at 07:58 PM

Tomorrow school again.
Day after tomorrow history test.
Wednesday German test
Friday french oral exam.

Don't think I'll have much time to work on SPNG this week,
So I'll just post another status report and go to bed so I can get back to my regular timeschedule :(.

Anyway, talkers aren't yet added, but I did add a little part of wbtwplug :) (see screenshot).
Ok, so because I've ripped another feature, lets explain (again) why spng is better :P
Well first of all, this one works with 6.2 (whoooo!).
Also, this will work with things like IEDP, where wtbwplug did not :P
Last but not least, this lets you choose wether you want it resized to 96*96 or not :D

Ok, thats it for now, enjoy the screenshot :D

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by saralk on 05-09-2004 at 08:42 PM

blasphemer, if ur gona have the window notification feature, which i think is a great idea, please can u make the messages appear in the msn window, in the style of a /me command, instead of a msg alert.

that isnt a feature request, its a feature improvement suggestion

RE: Stuffplug-NG Re-started by speedy_kevin on 05-09-2004 at 09:08 PM

@ Saralk: Oh no! I have that with amsn on linux and it's so annoying :@

I was just wondering if this was still on.  It's been a week since there was a post about it.  I liked the original StuffPlug so I'm looking forward to the release of this one.  If possible, could you give an update to how you are fairing with everything regarding StuffPlug-NG?  I'm sure I'm not the only one that's still in the dark about this.  Thanks and much appreciated.

Will you be releasing a public alpha or closed testing ? If closed then I'm interrested in testing it.

Config :
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
MSN Messenger 6.2013 Windows X Edition
Messenger Plus! 3.00.92

I've got some programming knowledge but I suppose you won't need that =P

Ps./ (I ask you to excuse me in advance =P) Will your 'Closed Windows' notifier be included in this as well ? And if not, do you think it is possible to make it compliant with MP!3 ? I know you're busy with exams and all, so I suppose you'll want to wait a bit for this. In that case, could I have a mess about with the source code, see if I can get it to work ?
Pss./ Need a hand in coding, poke me, I've got exams as well but they bore me.

Whats the chances of including the police alphabet code, like the big letters. so you can type a message and it swaps the characters for the police code words. In case you don't have them they are

A = Alpha
B = Bravo
C = Charile
D = Delta
E = Echo
F = Foxtrot
G = Golf
H = Hotel
I = India
J = Juliet
K = Kilo
L = Lima
M = Mike
N = November
O = Oscar
P = Papa
Q = Quebec
R = Romeo
S = Sierra
T = Tango
U = Uniform
V = Victor
W = Whisky
X = X-ray
Y = Yankee
Z = Zulu

I reckoned this should be pretty easy to include as it is nearly the exact same principle as the big letters.

Agreed :P
Already possible with stuffplug 1.5,
just open stuffplug_talkers.ini with notepad, and add a new section :)

I will also be interested in testing any (alpha or beta) version, since I liked Stuffplug 1.5 very much, though I'm not using it any more just because it was so messy.
Instead of making just 1 plugin you could make several dll's (even if they are installed together) so you find several folders in the Plus!>Plugins menu. This was already said, but I think thats one of the most important issues I found in 1.5.
Also It'll be great that the plug had a Preferences window as msgplus has.
Anyway: GREAT!!:banana:
P.S.: I always dreamed with posting a banana :D

He codes in Visual C++ and ASM. C++ for all the programming and stuff and ASM for tweaks like larger CE/DP and open email in default browser. He has been coding for years.

I think that is so useful a Kazaa panel... like.. send a command in the IMwindow and appears an other window with the songs taht you have in Kazaa, i don't know if it is possible.. but for me and i think taht for everyone is very useful because sometimes the Kazaa programe is very heavy for the RAM.(N)

I am a new member of Plus! forums group...and this is my first post.

I am quite confused about this Stuffplug-NG.  Has TheBlasphemer officially announced that the new Stuffplug-NG is going to be released.  Some of the forums say that it is and the download sequence for the stuffplug-NG only provides me with version 1.5.  Someone please explain...thanks:)

The problem is that TB didn't or doesn't allow SP-NG in alpha or beta stages to be distributed outside a couple of controlled sites. But many people leaked and stole it and uploaded it to their own sites. Some did remove it afterwards when they got alarmed by TB's takebacks (blocking access to that sites integrated in SPNG).
So people got confused about it and searched for "stuffplug" and that drove them to 1.5. Many people then assumed it was the new version and renaed it SP-NG.

For this reason it would be safe to change the name (as suggested in StuffPlug-NG Name Poll).

And well, that's all about it.

It would be nice if you could add the StatusSaver plugin inside stuffplug NG as a part of it.
Thanks
