Past Clipboard text by xSQL on 05-18-2004 at 02:42 PM

Hey, I'd like to make a Quick-text bind where I past my clipboard text. Something like:

/name Name [!clipboard]

Though, there is no such option afaik. Does anyone know how I can get this to work?

Thanks in advance!

The best way I find to do that is using this quick text:

/nick Name (!P)

save it using the alias /name, and use it like this:

/name and now press Ctrl + V to insert clipboard contect

You can also use the shortcut and when plus tries to send the quick text it'll ask you for the value of the (!P) parameter. Press Ctrl + V and press enter.

I think there isn't any other easier or faster way of doing that.

uhm? /name is already a standarized plus! quicktext. It's the same as /nick.

The principal remains the same though.  Just don't necessarily call it /name. ;)

oh, I didn't remember :P Anyway, as MM said: call it /my_special_nick_changer :refuck:

btw, in plus 3 you can overwrite standar commands with your own of quick texts

Unless I'm wrong, this would be quite simple for a plug-in to do it. :dodgy:

Programmers out there? :P

yes, it's easy doable in a plugin, because if a plugin returns a plus' command, it is parsed by plus, right? (tell me if i'm wrong) the plugin could return /nick Name <clipdoard>

Would be cool if someone with that knowledge could take the time :] I have no idea where to start :P

ooookkk :P Let's see:

nickclipboard.zip <- Extract the DLL and copy it in your plugins folder and restart messenger

now you have 2 more commands: /xnickclipboard and /xnickclipboard2 . They are the same as /nick and /nick2 , except for the following rules:
%c will be replaced by the text in the clipboard
%% will be replaced by %

Example of use: You have at the clipboard the text bla bla bla and you use the command /xnickclipboard oooh %% %c mmmm %c . You'll nick will be changed to oooh % bla bla bla mmmm bla bla bla .

Note: I know that the command is quite long (xnickclipboard) but that's done on pourpose. You can create a quick text with it. If you want to type it yourself i'd suggest to type /nick (or /nick2) and then use Ctrl + V to insert the text at the clipboard. It' faster :P

Well, I hope you like it ;)

btw: I've only tested the plugin win Win XP with plus 3, but it should work in any windows with plus 2.20 or newer. To uninstall the plugin, close messenger completly and delete the DLL.
