Gmail revised by GiantSpider on 05-20-2004 at 03:30 PM

Google just escalated the e-mail storage arms race by a factor of 1,000. Several users of the search engine's Gmail Web-based e-mail service noticed Tuesday that their storage limits had quietly been raised to 1 million megabytes, or 1 terabyte. That's four times the typical capacity of a new high-end PC's hard drive.

That part wasn't on MSFN.

going from 1GB to 1TB is a bit strange don't you think? You won't even ever need to use 1GB of e-mail storage in your whole life so what would you do with 1TB?

and how would you want to boot your OS if your OS has to be booted up before you can connect to the internet? :refuck:
RE: Gmail revised by Anubis on 05-21-2004 at 04:17 PM

I find it very surprising to see 1TB storage...I mean its not that easy to get a 1TB hard drive, this will highly increase internet piracy. Just imagine being able to send an entire movie via e-mail. Perhaps they just mean unlimited storage but if that was so why don't they just say it?

RE: Gmail revised by GiantSpider on 05-21-2004 at 04:49 PM

I said if I could Krytpo

That would stop any important piracy...How much space on Gmail have you got in total?
RE: Gmail revised by Vilkku on 05-21-2004 at 06:44 PM

1GB (I think).

A few posts later it said that it was a bug that was fixed now... It said 1GB on Googles site, too.

RE: Gmail revised by Triple8 on 05-21-2004 at 07:47 PM

no, atm only beta testers have access to it. We'll have to wait a couple of weeks/months before the release.
RE: Gmail revised by GiantSpider on 05-21-2004 at 09:04 PM

They haven't set a release date yet. However you can sign up to be a BETA tester.

I thought they only invited people to become a beta tester ^o). Otherwise people won't ask money for it on ebay :p.

RE: Gmail revised by Kryptonate on 05-22-2004 at 09:39 AM

it says "If you'd like to be updated about Gmail". They use your e-mailadress to send you news about Gmail. I subscribed a month ago . You don't get a Gmail adress that way.

RE: Gmail revised by GiantSpider on 05-22-2004 at 09:41 AM

It puts you like on a resereve list apparently. So if the test windens then a few of the "b" list will be chosen.
