Thanks! But please do NOT save as Unicode (Edited: "Die Verwendung ist am sinnvollsten für komplexe Sprachen wie Japanisch oder Hebräisch.") - unless your language demands it!
1. The file gets twice as big (but not twice as good) compared to ANSI. (No big deal of course with today's BIG harddisks)
2. At the moment I'm sitting at a Win98 machine. And the German file doesn't even show up in the list when I try to change to German! So I had to resave it as ANSI.

File updated...
Lang_Deutsch.ini was always saved as Unicode (my editor did that automatically)

@traxor
copy the file to "Resources" to use it :)

Well, if you still didn't send it, an you realy want to add something :p: What you can do is to give the file a version/revision/whatever number (you decide this for yourself, what you find most handy).

Some translators do this also. This is very handy to keep track of changes. And it is also handy for people checking other translations (;) for example, It was'nt clear at first sight what version was most recent of the Català-translation, the one that KeyStorm last posted or the one in Plus!... I had to read the thread, check the files and changes to find out...).

You can do this in two ways:
- Put it in a comment line at the top of the file.
- Put it in the About Dialog (so your users will see it also)

examples can be found in:
Lang_Afrikaans.ini (used both methods)
Lang_Magyar.ini (only a commentline at top of file)
Lang_Nederlands.ini (used both methods)
Lang_Norsk.ini (Bokmal) (only a commentline at top of file)
Lang_Svenska.ini (only in the About Dialog)

Oh god... Cookie understands Catalan :D :banana:

But how would we give it a revision number?

I think Patchou should add a (commented) line where translators put the revision number, telling how to. If this is needed... :^)

;Svensk översättning .92f
(First line in my translation - it means "Swedish translation..."
and doubled here
TranslationLbl=Svensk översättning .92f
(So that everyone can see it)
RE: German Translation by user17033 on 05-25-2004 at 07:41 PM

file sent to patchou (i've read the send now post in the other topic ;))

i used 04.05.25.3 (YY.MM.DD.Changes_today) as versionnumber - so the files are sorted right in the explorer window (the versions "grow" each day, oldest on top, newest on bottom)...

edit » that's the same way i create folders to have backups of my translations (i actually have ~28 backups of the mp!3 ini)

RE: German Translation by CookieRevised on 05-25-2004 at 08:04 PM

small note: the (updated) file posted in your topmessage doesn't contain that commentline...

EDIT: Sorry :$ my mistake...
