remote control by faku2wist on 06-05-2004 at 07:01 AM

Hi! Is there any way I can remotely control my MSN?
Indeed what I need is this: my ISP changes my IP every 20 hours aproximately, so I'd like to know if there is any possibility to create a command that when I send it, the message will be replied automatically showing my IP.
Thank you very much!

setup remote desktop, access it from another computer. Make your computer type (!IP). It works :p

I find it very dodgy (read: hard to believe) that your ISP will change your IP while you are connected... :dodgy:

Anyways, yes this can be made into a plugin. But both you and the contact need the plugin to be installed.

In other words, you can't use it to get the IP of other contacts...

Otherwise, EvilSeph's method works also and is even more secure then if you put this into a plugin (cause anybody can use the plugin's command to get your IP).

well not sure if I get what you mean but if you want to acces your computer from somewhere else ( you could controle ya msn an all other stuff )

1. :: VncServer/viewer
2. :: No-Ip (Creat an Account)
3. :: No-Ip (Download)

// WinXp
4. :: If you have a rooter open PrompCmd ( Run --> cmd )
5. :: In MsDos type ipconfig /all
6. :: open a browser type your ip gateway ( or something like that in french its "Ip par default") like http://192.168.0.1

***Note : if it ask for a pass ask your parent or if they dunno try User: Admin Password: Password or Admin  if it dont work look in the rooter's book

7. :: find something about Port Forwarding, add one on port 5900 ( look on MSDos the computer's local Ip ) 192.168.0.2 ( may be different )
8. should work

// win 98/95
just part 4 change i think
4. :: run --> command

On the Remote computer

1. :: VncViewer
2. :: Type the Host that you added in no-ip eg: wrsteam.myvnc.com
3. :: Should ask for a password ( type the one you entered in your vnc server )

*note: if you want to acces your computer from the same gateway you may enter the other computer's local ip ( 192.168.0.2 ) or just change you host in
windows --> Win32 --> Driver --> etc --> host

if you have anyquestion feel free to ask o.o' or if that not what you were looking for sorry, or else have fun  :P

**Note : no - ip check if you ip changed hourly and update the vhost automaticly

Hi! First of all, thanks for answering.
It's like this: my ISP doesn't change my address while I'm connected. I have broadband (ADSL), and every 20-22 hours the connection is reseted, i.e. the connection is stopped, and then the comp re-connects again, with another IP.
I would like to use my comp from another one, using Remote Desktop of NetMeeting, WinXP's Remote Control, or any other, it doesn't matter. What I need to know is my IP address (whether it has changed because the connection was reseted or not), and I don't feel like writing it down everytime I leave home. So I would like to send a message to my MSN Messenger account from another account (for example: !IP some_kinda_password) and it answers with something like "your IP is (!IP)" (since Plus! identifies "(!IP)" as the IP address of the machine).
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Test Zero and ^Snog!!
Just one doubt: I need to configure that everytime my IP changes? (i.e. every 20 or 22 hours when the connection is reseted)

No-Ip check your ip hourly, and if it change its update the vhost.

so on VNC or w/e you type "myname.mydomain.com" it the same this as my wrsteam.servehttp.com ... you don't need to configure anything, only the first time tought, after everything configured/intaled you just have toi run the program of course

I don't know... from what you tell about your connection..  probably you are using a DSL NAT, so... your IP is not public... that way you couldn't connect from outside..
