Venus Transit by surfichris on 06-08-2004 at 05:46 AM

Venus is currently passing right between us here on earth and the sun. This is a rare effect and will not occur again until 2012 then approximatly 100 years after. It last happened in 1882.

Nasa has put up a page here about it: http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/sunearthday/2004/index_vthome.htm

There are also numerous live webcasts and streams to watch this event..

I think its pretty cool :D

sounds niffty, but im problay gonna miss it

RE: Venus Transit by Weyzza on 06-08-2004 at 06:17 AM

That would be very cool.

I know that a magazine offers a tour to Africa to watch the transit, because the ransit is best viewed from there.
But that is quite expensive I guess.

No, you cant get realy decent or anything really half decent with a camera because of the amount of light the sun generates..

He would have had his telescope and used the camera on it somehow..

How ironic :P Windows media player shows a little sun icon when streaming the footage sent by Mike2

I saw this, but hardly.  I looked at the sun :S and could barely see it, then I stopped because I could feel my eyes melting.
