MSN Messenger Status Comes Online By Itself by Protocol on 06-13-2004 at 02:05 AM

Since updating to the new Messenger Plus! version, MSN Messenger keeps coming back online after a short period of time by itself. If I set MSN Messenger status to "Appear Offline", after a period of inactivity, it comes online by itself.

I have Cable. It is always on and it is has only started happening since updating MSN Messenger and Messenger Plus!
I have 2 computers connected to a network and can be browsing fine on 1 computer when I notice on the other idle computer that messenger is going online and offline.

The other computer may be refeshing its ip address with the router. The same thing happens to me, ever so often my computer will change ip address, you can stop this happening. you just need to change some setting in the router

If what ur doing on computer 1 goes through computer 2 (the idle one) that will explain it going to online (example: connecting to internet - it depends on how u set up your network).
