They have improved the UI, the extension managing (allowing you to have them autoupdated), and done other technical imprivements.

More info @ Mozilla Firefox' oficial website and Press release for quick reviewing

(There are many Firefox fans in here, so I thought this would be interesting for all you guys ;))

Boo on Keystorm, I was just about to post this :P. One of the best features that comes with this version, I believe, is that you can import settings/cache/favorties from Firefox 0.8 and IE.

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by bach_m on 06-15-2004 at 09:28 PM

already got it!  and love it!

the themes are kinda being wierd, so u need to DL them to ur hard drive and drag them into the theme windows to install them.

Not if you already used Firefox 0.8 ;) Soz, wrote to fast :D

But it nicely and softly took my 0.8 preferences :)

Remember to uninstall Firefox 0.8 before installing 0.9 if you're about to use the same folder as 0.8.

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by ddunk on 06-15-2004 at 10:25 PM

I just looked an Firefox is using an amazing amount of memory. 44MB. All I have open is this site, is this just from 0.9 or has it always been this high and I never noticed it? (MSN is only using 21MB)

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by bach_m on 06-15-2004 at 10:31 PM

i think this version i a bit slow. i'm sure the nightly in a few days will be better

Wasn't that always possible? :-/
RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by ddunk on 06-15-2004 at 10:43 PM

It didn't bring mine in when I went from IE to 0.8 :undecided:

It's 18Mib, here, although I have some plugins, so it might be 2Mib less.
RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by bach_m on 06-15-2004 at 11:27 PM

i just rebooted, and it seems much faster.

still using 26MB tho...

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by Kryptonate on 06-16-2004 at 01:51 PM

I installed it and it looked kinda screwed :-/. My RSS Reader wouldn't go away if I wanted it too. My bookmarks toolbar folder doesn't show anymore, if I press the home button he always goes to the startpage of Firefox altough it says in the options to go to localhost. If I rightclick the bookmarks toolbar I just get a small square, I can't access "File", "Edit" and so on anymore when I press "Done". I uninstalled, rebooted, downloaded a fresh copy and reinstalled but it still is the same :-/. I'll try to delete everything involving Firefox and hope it works.

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by dotNorma on 06-16-2004 at 05:05 PM

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by GiantSpider on 06-16-2004 at 05:13 PM

I thought this was released a while ago ? Tryed to download but I couldn't so i guess it wasn't. Is there a way to defualt open all new pages in tabs?

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by Kryptonate on 06-16-2004 at 05:16 PM

well, my problem is solved. I had to delete the folder "Firefox" under C:\Documents and settings\*username*\Application Data\Mozilla\, then it all works :s. Luckely I copied the bookmarks.html first :).

I like what they did with the tabbrowsing. The new layout isn't bad either and as for the memory usage, I have atm 41 mb :s.

Edit: I tested it and it doesn't show in the themes list. Perhaps it's not for 0.9, it will probably be updated.

To install skins click the "Download skin" link on the page, NOT the "Install Skin" link and it should save a .jar. Then open the Themes window and drag and drop the .jar to the window.
RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by kao on 06-16-2004 at 09:57 PM

0.9 sounds buggy to me, so im going to stick with 0.8... it all works fine so i dont care really :undecided:

0.8 is using 43mb RAM for me atm, with 5 tabs open :p

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by KeyStorm on 06-16-2004 at 10:56 PM

23 tabs -> 75Mib

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by Millenium_edition on 06-17-2004 at 10:49 AM

new extension manager, new theme manager, faster,

there are fewer features as we aproach 1.0, as these releases foccus mainly on bugs and speed.

Get the Tabbrowser Extensios. It is a plugin with all sosrts of improvements, adjustments related to tabs. It's so to say an all-in-one plugin.
Multirow, auto-open in tabs, autoreload, dragging, grouping, multi-open/close... and a looong etc.
RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by Kryptonate on 06-18-2004 at 01:52 PM

I preffered the old taskbar icon instead of the new blue one :-/.

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by KeyStorm on 06-18-2004 at 02:16 PM

Old taskbar icon, I can't see any difference. But anyway, I liked old GUI buttons way better than these 2D ones :(

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by Kryptonate on 06-18-2004 at 02:26 PM

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by Millenium_edition on 06-18-2004 at 07:06 PM

it's because we're on 98/ME/95. On xp this is fixed.

I'm using .9 now.... this rocks! (i have no idea what the banana code is... :p)

weehee i was right

RE: FireFox 0.9 final just released! by .blade// on 06-19-2004 at 01:55 AM

I was able to find a theme about 90% the same as the ff 0.8 one.
also: I like the new prompt when you try to close a window with multiple tabs open..

BTW, some sites that didn't work right on 0.8 now work on 0.9 such as http://www.mcdonalds.ca (.aspx)

multiple "minor" bugs fixed and some problems when opening a download file directly were fixed. Also, something REALLY minor, a button that allows you to open a new tab was added to the customization menu :P

hmm weird, all i knew is... if the form doesn't have an icon (in vb this would be "(None)"), XP adds the icon from the EXE file. weird enough this doesn't happen on 9x and ME
