cannot block anyone by voxson on 06-25-2004 at 05:34 PM

Hi everyone,

I have this really annoying problem with MSN. I cannot block anyone. Everytime I try to block someone I get the following error:

"Username could not be blocked. Please try again later."

This problem has been persistent for many days now and it happens to everyone. Even if unblock someone who was blocked from before, I cannot re-block them. I have pretty many blocked users so I unblocked many of them to see if this would fix it but nothing. Do you have any idea?? What can I do?

Thank you

What happens if you go to Tools > Options > Privacy Tab and move the contacts you wish to block into the block column? Will it allow you to block them?

Which windows are you using?

Hit CTRL+ALT+DEL

If you are using windows xp then how many process are running and can you either list them all or take a screen shot of the task manager

if it is windows 98/me then can you type out all the items that come up?

thanks

It doesn't work either.

It's not my computer's problem because it happens from any computer I try to do it.

That could leave me to believe that your contact list is Corrupted.

Not really, When you tried other computers were they all MSN Messenger? have you tried Windows Messenger?

The same happened with windows messenger. Now the problem is fixed after I unblocked almost everyone in my list.

My conclusion is that there is a maximum block limit MSN has introduced. If you reach that limit, it does not allow you to block anyone. The thing is that I was way over that limit so once it was introduced the problem was not fixed not even if I unblocked a few people. It seems I had to unblock enough people so I could go under the limit until I could block anyone else again.

For those wondering, my blocked contacts were a few tens, not many more, so I think the limit MSN has put is kind of low.

If you try to block someone you get the following error:
CONTACT cannot be blocked. Please try again later.

MSN replied that it is being investigated and that they are working on it.
